Praise for the first edition of Getting Started in Chart Patterns
"When it comes to chart reading, Thomas Bulkowski can be categorized as a sui generis [constituting a class alone]. Combining objective analysis with a fictional element has resulted in a highly entertaining read, one that any trader will benefit from."
JAYANTHI GOPALAKRISHAN, Editor of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities magazine
"Nobody explains the nuts and bolts of howexactlyto use chart patterns to make real money in trading like Tom Bulkowski. I always do better in my own trading after reading a Bulkowski book. This is the practical, down-to-earth guidance you have been looking for in books on technical analysis. Bulkowski doesn't give you platitudeshe gives you live examples. Even better, he admits that patterns don't always deliver what we expect and he quantifies both success and failure rates for the top moneymaking patterns. Nobody writes about chart work better than Bulkowski."

- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2025Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is the definitive book on chart patters from THE guy that did the studies that all the other books base their facts on. Get your info from the source!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLots of data backed patterns and trade results. The book is very insightful and has tons of clearly illustrated chart patterns.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2025Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseVery clear explanation of how to read a candlestick chart. This is about how to read a candlestick rather than a list of promising chart patterns. Also contains guidance about successfully avoiding what would be considered positive indications but with wrong timing that will more often than not lead to a loss. Contains sanguin advice about trying to identify "chart patterns" that rings true. Very refreshing advice from an actual trader.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI am not a seasoned stock trader; however, I have read many books on techincal analysis, have taken lessons from pros, attended many webinars, and have been studying the technical aspects of the market for about 2 years. This book covers it all and has brought confidence to my trading. I highly recommend this book to all levels of traders, there's a lot of simple principles of trading you already know, such as double top, support, resistance, etc. but there are a few gems you can still take away from reading this.
I am excited to start reading Mr. Bulkowski's swing trading book next.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2020Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOutstanding. I have used this authors book through many of his printings. Excellent for new investors and a handy, necessary tool for experienced one. I always keep this book near my computer when investing. A must have book that is very reasonably priced and easy to understand.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2016Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI think this should be titled, advanced chart patterns. There is a lot of detail in this book and it is hard to pull the value out of all the Phd level statistical chart analysis. I don't think you need to understand chart theory in order to make use of charts. I want techniques not a course in statistics. Tell me how to apply what you just talked about to making money. I think the information could be distilled into a much simpler approach for the layman. I also bought Fred McAllen's book " Charting and Technical Analysis" and I think his book is a much better beginner book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI red the book about two months ago and then I went to my charts and draw every pattern I saw ... In fact , they do work pretty well . Patterns were a good complement for my technical analysis .

FernandoReviewed in Brazil on October 7, 20205.0 out of 5 stars Essencial para melhorar.
