♻️ Kunnen we drinkwater produceren zonder grond- of oppervlaktewater? NEW WATER wil tonen dat het kan. 👉 Het nieuwe Interreg NEW WATER project wil een stap zetten die tot nu toe nauwelijks verkend werd: afvalwater, regenwater en vervuild oppervlaktewater inzetten om drinkwater te produceren. Niet als experiment in het lab, maar met concrete toepassingen en opschaling in zicht. Het project brengt Europese partners samen en wordt gelanceerd op IFAT worldwide in München, een van de grootste internationale waterbeurzen. Dat onderstreept meteen de ambitie: van innovatie naar implementatie op schaal. Voor Vlaanderen betekent dit: 👉 toegang tot nieuwe technologieën 👉 versnelde kennisopbouw 👉 en een sterkere positie als waterinnovatieve regio VITO Kennispunt Water wil zo innovatie versnellen via samenwerking en kennisdeling. De vraag is niet langer óf we alternatieve waterbronnen nodig hebben. De vraag is hoe snel we ze veilig en betrouwbaar kunnen inzetten. 💧 Benieuwd hoe NEW WATER dit concreet zal aanpakken? VITO is contributing to a better understanding of how PFAS move through the environment in Flanders in the Horizon Europe project SOILPROM. In this video, Michiel Maertens explains how VITO and Wageningen University & Research combine field data and advanced modelling to investigate how PFAS travel from air to soil, plants, and groundwater in industrial areas.
