App ,Abb or IOS Generate Imposible General The problem with AiStudio is that it doesn’t give you the option to generate an APK, an AAB, or an iOS version. What am I supposed to do if I want to upload my app to the app stores? Naturally, this is very disappointing. Furthermore, the storage is extremely expensive.

How do you manage Firestore data outside the Firebase Console? Firestore I keep hitting the same issue with Firebase.

The console is fine at the start, but once the project grows a bit, it gets pretty annoying to manage data there.

I’ve rebuilt admin panels a few times just to deal with it, and it always feels like I’m repeating the same work.

Lately I’ve been trying a different approach — using WordPress as a kind of admin UI for Firestore instead of building something from scratch every time.

I even put together a small plugin to try this out — it basically lets me browse collections and edit documents from WordPress instead of the Firebase Console.

So far it’s been surprisingly practical.

Curious how others are handling this.

If you’ve run into it before, I’d appreciate honest feedback — even if it’s just “this doesn’t make sense”.

Google AI Studio vs Antigravity General Hi all,

I need your suggestions.

I’ve tried vibe coding with both Google AI Studio and Antigravity. So far, I feel Antigravity gives better output than Google AI Studio, but I’m still not fully sure. One challenge with Antigravity is that the preview opens in a separate window, and it seems to require a Google One subscription. On the other hand, Google AI Studio allows development on the free tier. I’d appreciate hearing about your experience with these tools, as it would help me decide which one to move forward with

Is migrating to Cloud Code a viable option? General Hi everyone,

As many of us have probably experienced, the current alternatives provided by Google don’t quite match the experience and capabilities of Firebase Studio.

Given that, I’ve been exploring possible paths forward, and one idea that came up is migrating (partially or fully) to Cloud Code as a way to regain more control and flexibility.

Before going down that road, I wanted to ask:

Has anyone here actually migrated to Cloud Code in this context?

  • Did it help compensate for the limitations you were facing?

  • What improved, and what got worse?

  • Would you recommend it as a long-term solution, or just a workaround?

I’m especially interested in real experiences—whether it ended up being worth the effort or not.

Google AI Studio offers less than Firebase Studio did General I migrated my app from Firebase Studio to Google AI Studio because I need cloud facility.
I have found the following differences that are disadvantageous versus Firebase Studio:

  1. I could prompt code all day long on FBS without running out of quota. On GAIS it runs out of quota after one prompt or even just loading up the app! On API keys its very costly.
  2. I am told on Gemini 1.5 this wont happen but I cant switch to 1.5. Only options are Gemini 3 in various formats.
  3. Building takes ages versus FBS. This is a waste of time.

Does anyone think this will improve? For now I will carry on until March 2027 I guess.

Building a Real-Time SASSA Status Check App with Firebase General I’m currently working on an app that allows users to check their SASSA status check updates in real time, using Firebase as the backend. The idea is to provide users with instant notifications about their SASSA application status, and I’m using Firebase Firestore to store user data and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.

I’m looking for advice on how to best handle real-time updates and data management, especially when dealing with sensitive information like government services. Any tips on optimizing performance, ensuring data security, or best practices for using Firebase in this kind of project would be really helpful.

I’m excited to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

AI Studio migration fail General Not very impressed with the migration process from Firebase Studio to AI Studio.

  1. Firebase successfully prepared the project for migration via the ‘Prepare for AI Studio

  2. Clicked ‘Move to AI Studio’ which appeared to initially work (as I could see a preview of my app). But then Gemini timed out, didn’t complete its task, so I asked it to check the import was successful.

  3. Various errors ensued, build kept failing, app wouldn’t preview.

  4. I eventually ran out of the free quota for Gemini, so had to connect a paid API key to continue.

  5. More build failures - after inspecting the code files manually, noticed that Gemini had created a firebase-applet-config.json file with empty variables (simply said ’TO_DO’) and it had not imported my .env file from Firebase where all of these variables (eg API keys) lived.

  6. After prompting, it rectified this, but app still fails to load. Now Gemini getting stuck in a loop trying to fix issues that don’t exist, eating into my paid API quota.

Will abandon the migration for now, continue building in Firebase Studio, and try again when you’ve ironed out some of the issues.

Crazy thing is - I’ve spent more money trying to migrate the project to AI Studio in 1 hour than I’ve spent in the 6 months building the app.

Impossible - Migrate to Google AI Studio General I’m currently using Antigravity, which is the only viable solution so far, but it still lacks many UX/UI features in the prompt to achieve results comparable to our beloved Firebase. It was, however, the only platform I managed to migrate to successfully using Google AI Studio’s new migration method, along with an automatic command sent to the chat for installation. Unfortunately, my credits ran out at the start of the migration. Since it was a system with multiple modules, they were consumed by a single command before the process could even complete.

It would have been great if an API were made available to Firebase members who helped evolve the entire system through feedback and testing. As it stands, I feel like I’m just witnessing the end of the system, or waiting days and days for a few more commands.

Sadly, this is unfortunate news about the end of Firebase Studio.

Request to Continue Firebase Studio for New Developers General Dear Google Team,

My name is Rasel Mahmud, and I am a developer from Bangladesh. I have recently started my development journey using Firebase Studio. Despite being a beginner, this platform has enabled me to successfully build and launch several live projects. I am already receiving very positive feedback from clients, which has greatly motivated me to continue.

However, I am deeply concerned about the possibility of Firebase Studio being discontinued. For new developers like me, this would be a significant setback.

Firebase Studio provides several powerful features that are extremely helpful for beginners:

  • Real-time live preview while developing applications

  • Ability to instantly detect issues and fix them through agent assistance

  • Option to modify or add new features by simply sharing ideas with the agent

  • Easy deployment and updates even after delivering projects to clients

I have personally built projects using Next.js within Firebase Studio, and the seamless workflow has allowed me to deliver professional applications even as a beginner.

Additionally, after delivering a project, if a client requests updates or new features, I can easily make those changes and redeploy the project instantly. This level of flexibility is extremely valuable.

My concern is whether these same features will be available in Google AI Studio or the new Antigravity platform. If not, I strongly believe that Firebase Studio should continue to exist.

If maintaining Firebase Studio is challenging, I would respectfully suggest integrating it into a cloud billing system. Developers could be charged based on usage (such as database, hosting, and features), similar to other Google Cloud services. This would allow the platform to remain sustainable while still supporting developers.

I have already started building my business around this platform. I have purchased a domain, made investments, and am planning to establish a company. If my current projects stop working or I lose access to this platform, it would cause me significant financial and professional loss.

As a new developer who is still learning and not yet highly skilled in coding, Firebase Studio has been an essential tool for me. It has helped me grow and move forward in my career.

I am truly grateful to Google for creating such a powerful platform. However, I humbly request that you do not discontinue Firebase Studio, as it plays a crucial role in supporting new developers like myself.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Rasel Mahmud
Bangladesh

Feedback on the sunset of Firebase Studio in favor of Antigravity To the Firebase Product Team General I’m writing to express my strong reservations regarding the sunsetting of Firebase Studio in favor of the Antigravity (VS Code-based) environment. While the industry is buzzing about “Agentic-first” workflows, this transition feels like a regression for several key reasons:

  • The Bloat Factor: Forcing a heavy, Electron-based desktop app on developers who have optimized their workflows for cloud-native agility is a bottleneck. In an era of 5G and ubiquitous connectivity, we should be moving toward more powerful browser-based IDEs, not back to local installs that eat 4GB of RAM just to idle.

  • Aesthetic & UX Dissonance: On modern OSs like macOS Tahoe, the UX standard is fluid, native, and lightweight. A VS Code fork feels clunky and out of place. Firebase Studio was sleek, accessible from any machine, and prioritized the “cloud-first” philosophy that made Firebase great in the first place.

  • The “Local-First” Fallacy: Local-first shouldn’t mean “Desktop-only.” We need the flexibility to manage data and security rules from any device—including tablets—without the overhead of a full IDE setup.

  • AI Integration belongs in the Cloud: Deep Gemini integration shouldn’t require a local binary. Agentic workflows are actually more powerful when they live in a high-speed cloud environment where the data already resides.

Bottom line: Please reconsider keeping a Cloud-native, browser-based interface (like a modernized Firebase Studio) as a first-class citizen. Don’t force us into a monolithic desktop environment just to get the latest AI features.

Best,

Victor Yermak

Started using Antigravity General Wow, I’ve started using Antigravity…bro its a beautiful stuff. Thought it was going to replace prototyping. But this exceeded the limitations Firestore studio had. So right now, we are not limited to host our applications with Google firebase products. But we can build any kind of applications and deploy it to anywhere. This is freedom and more power to developers and prototypers. I love it. Just hope I’ wont exceed limits soon.

Some migration Insanity General I’m seeing a repeatable difference between publishing from Firebase Studio and deploying to the same App Hosting backend from the Firebase CLI. When I publish from Firebase Studio, the app works normally. When I deploy from my local machine with firebase deploy --only apphosting, the same backend URL starts failing with Firestore permission-denied errors, even though the app works locally, the local production build (npm run build && npm run start) works, the Firebase project and rules look correct, and the broken deployed app is clearly talking to the correct Firebase project/database. I also confirmed that restoring apphosting.yaml to a minimal form still does not fix the CLI-published version, while a fresh Firebase Studio publish immediately works again. This makes it look like there is some important difference in the CLI publish path vs Firebase Studio publish path for App Hosting, even when targeting the same backend. Has anyone seen this, or is there a known difference in how Firebase Studio and CLI deploys package/configure App Hosting rollouts?

Resources exhausted General Dear Sir,

For the past three days, I have consistently received the message “Sorry, I hit a snag. Please try again shortly or modify your prompt. This issue is not confined to a single workspace; it persists across multiple workspaces. I even created a new project for testing purposes, but encountered the same problem.

I understand that Firebase Studio’s service may be undergoing changes. I kindly request that such limitations not be imposed, particularly for extended periods, as many individuals, including myself, do not possess alternative resources.

I consider Firebase Studio, especially with its AI prototyper, to be an invaluable asset for developers like us.

In a country with limited resources, this platform was the ‘AI heart’ that allowed me to breathe life into 7 patented projects. From Neuraldam, a system designed to prevent dam disasters and save thousands of lives, to SriFuel Pass, a solution for my nation’s crisis—every line of code was written with a dream of a better future.
