Peace and Stability in Mozambique Programme
UK - Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO)
To promote peace and stability through initiatives to prevent the spread of violent extremism and foster peacebuilding in Cabo Delgado and Northern Mozambique, and to consolidate the peace process in Central Mozambique. In the North a) strengthen community resilience against violent extremist influence and narratives; b) promote provincial and local dialogue between public authorities, the private sector and citizens to increase trust and reduce tensions; c) work with security and justice actors on community-centered and human rights compliant approaches; d) support government-led mechanisms for conflict management and improved coordination with international partners. Pilot initiatives with strong monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks – successful efforts will be scaled up through influencing programmes and public policies. In Central Mozambique, we will contribute to the implementation of the Maputo Peace Accords, particularly the the ongoing DDR of former Renamo combatants
Mozambique Humanitarian Response Programme 2022-2027

To provide lifesaving assistance to people in Mozambique affected by conflict and by climate disasters. MHRP is based on evidence of need and gaps across the humanitarian sector. It will reach 350,000 people with interventions in food security, nutrition, and protection. Additionally, MHRP will reach 100,000 people each year with prepositioning of emergency stocks to respond to climatic events.
Indo-Pacific Humanitarian Mechanism Programme

Indo-Pacific Humanitarian Mechanism (IPHM) will strengthen FCDO agility in preparing and responding quickly to new disasters in the Indo-Pacific. It will deliver one of the International Development Strategy’s top priorities: providing life-saving humanitarian assistance and preventing the worst forms of human suffering and the International Development White Paper’s emphasis on better preparedness in disaster response.
Better Regional Migration Management

Africa Technology and Innovation Partnerships - ATIP

The Evidence Fund - 300708

The Evidence Fund procures and manages research and evaluations that primarily benefit ODA eligible countries. Most research and evaluations paid for by the Evidence Fund are country-specific, and all respond to requests for evidence to inform programme or policy decisions. Primarily serving research requests from HMG’s Embassies and High Commissions in ODA eligible countries, and from HMG policy and strategy teams, the Evidence Fund strengthens the evidence behind the UK’s priority international development investments and development diplomacy. The Evidence Fund also invests modest amounts of non-ODA, to strengthen the evidence behind wider UK foreign policy.
St Helena Economic Development Investment Programme

Unlocking Digital Impact for Development.

This programme will help to deliver the strategic goals of DFID’s Digital Strategy, which aims to harness digital technology to deliver on the SDGs. The programme budget is £18.5 million between 2019-20 to 2023-24. Delivery will primarily be through the Digital Impact Alliance, housed within the UN Foundation. There is a separate pillar to finance complementary policy research and advice activities with other partners, including Digital Pathways at Oxford, as well as a learning and evaluation pillar. The programme will identify, trial and institutionalise good practice and common standards for digital development work. It will deliver sustainable and reusable digital products which create new or improved services; replicable business and partnership models to increase the use of digital products and data; data-driven policy-making tools and products to inform and advance transformation; and training offerings and skills-building tools to improve investments in digital technologies.
Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP)

To improve water governance and management issues in Pakistan to be able to adapt to changing climate while ensuring environmental sustainability, with a focus on collaboration and engagement with provinces, research and media engagement.
T-WASH II - Transforming Access to WASH and Nutrition Services in Mozambique

To deliver sustainable, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and nutrition services to the poor in Mozambique. The programme will focus in areas of high child malnutrition, and address the specific needs of women and adolescent girls. It will build on the success of the current WASH programme, using performance indicators to drive the sustainability and equity of government and private sector service delivery at sub-national level. The programme will use evidence to influence policies and strategies that will lead to better health and nutritional outcomes for the poor. The programme will also build human capital for longer term economic development.
Commonwealth Veteran's Welfare Programme for ODA Eligible Countries

To provide commonwealth veterans and their widows/widowers from ODA eligible countries, who worked for British Armed Forces before their countries gained independence, now living in poverty, with two meals a day through a 5 year cash transfer programme.
Global Risk Financing Programme [GRiF]

To save lives and reduce the impacts of shocks, like droughts, hurricanes and floods through enabling earlier and more effective response and faster recovery. It provides finance to support governments and humanitarian agencies to use risk financing instruments, like insurance and contingent credit, to access more rapid finance in emergencies, and to strengthen preparedness of local systems for disaster response and recovery. It will focus on disasters, but will develop over time to cover a wider range of risks, including famine.
Transforming Access to Climate Finance

To transform how developing countries access climate finance, in turn supporting implementation of more ambitious and integrated climate action. The programme will offer governments access to faster and more efficient funding to deliver their national climate & development plans. For example, donor climate finance will be coordinated and mobilised to deliver a national strategy (like the UK’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution); the strengthening of a specific sector (e.g. improving the resilience of the water sector); or delivering a package of policy actions (e.g. for a clean energy transition). This moves away from project-based finance towards the implementation of economy and sector-wide strategies. This ensures that public climate finance responds to country need, minimises duplication and offers a coherent approach. It will encourage confidence to pursue higher climate ambition enabling them to recover faster and deliver climate action at scale.
Humanitarian Action and Recovery after Crisis programme (HARC)

DRC is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, driven by conflict, poor governance, a predatory political system, and low state capacity. Civilians, particularly women and children, are often targeted by armed actors. It is a protracted crisis. FCDO and partners in DRC have a role in shifting the trajectory. To do this the UK needs a holistic approach to address new humanitarian needs, support recovery and household ability to cope with shocks and help survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) recover. BEK will focus our programme on the east of DRC with flexibility to respond to new crises that may develop elsewhere in the country.
Sudan Humanitarian Preparedness and Response (SHPR)

Sudan’s Humanitarian Preparedness and Response will contribute to reducing excess mortality and morbidity resulting from conflict, climate related hazards, disease outbreaks and economic shocks by: 1. Providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable people facing ongoing crisis, with a focus on protection services, cash transfers and community management of acute malnutrition. 2. Preparing for and responding to sudden crises and spikes in need through country-based contingency funds. A flexible internal crisis risk facility will strengthen UK preparedness to respond to major disasters in Sudan. 3. Strengthening the effectiveness of in-country humanitarian preparedness and response. A flexible Enabling Facility will provide third-party services and technical assistance to improve gathering and analysis of data on risks and needs and early warning systems, monitoring and accountability mechanisms, and a shift to locally led interventions.
Good Governance Fund (Phase 3) Eastern Neighbourhood: Supporting Governance and Economic Reform

The Good Governance Fund Phase 3 will deliver demand-led support to governance reforms that allow open societies and economies to flourish. The Good Governance Fund will focus on improving democratic and economic governance, primarily through strategically targeted technical assistance. The Good Governance Fund programme will deliver interventions on a flexible basis, based on identified needs and/or requests from government counterparts or civil society in beneficiary countries (Armenia, Georgia and Moldova) in support of governance and economic reforms. This will support delivery and seek to prevent/reverse democratic backsliding. The Good Governance Fund is part of an integrated portfolio of programmes operating in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate region and supports the delivery of four National Security Council strategies and the Integrated Review.
Western Balkans – Freedom and Resilience Programme

This programme will address long-term, structural issues across the region, including ethno-nationalist division, and support transparency and accountability in government, as well as underlying society challenges such as discrimination and violence against women and girls. The Programme will comprise a portfolio of interventions in three areas: reconciliation and peacebuilding in conflict-affected communities; empowering women and girls and tackling Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and gender-based violence; and strengthening government capacity, transparency and accountability. Programming will be country-led, with Posts able to bid for funds in support of projects in line with their priorities.
Building Resilience, Inclusion and Diversity through Girls’ Education (BRIDGE)

Through a three-year programme, BRIDGE will champion the UK’s commitment for every girl to receive 12 years of quality education, squarely responding to the FCDO’s priorities on Women and Girls. This programme will provide access to quality education for marginalised children, especially girls, and will support learning recovery for 1.6 million host community and refugee children impacted by almost two years of continuous school closures (due to COVID-19). BRIDGE will ensure inclusion is mainstreamed in Jordan’s education system through: supporting access to education; improving quality of education; building societal and economic resilience; and maximising existing UK contributions.
Sudan Independent Monitoring and Analysis Programme (SIMAP)

The Sudan Independent Monitoring and Analysis Programme supports BE Khartoum (BEK)'s bilateral policy and programme portfolio to improve effectiveness through providing timely and objective information on delivery and contextual developments. The programme works with independent monitoring partners to deploy thematic and contextual experts throughout Sudan to conduct in-person and/or remote monitoring and capacity building activities and deliver three core outcomes: (1) Assurance & Capacity Building: BEK has increased oversight of programme delivery, can better manage risks and better support partners to improve performance. (2) Learning & Innovation: BEK is able to support more innovative policy and programming approaches, shares learning systematically and influences sector approaches in Sudan. (3) Strategy & Analysis: BEK has increased access to relevant, outcome-focused analysis to support strategic decision-making and shape the response of the international community in Sudan.
Ethiopia Crises 2 Resilience (EC2R)

The Ethiopia Crises to Resilience (EC2R) programme is aimed to alleviate the impact of the conflict and drought to the poorest Ethiopians. The programme tries to address urgent humanitarian needs while maintaining the delivery of essential services across the country.
