Sometimes I make video games. These are some of those. When making these things I often do everything from scratch: Art, music, sound effects, code, except where noted. I usually release source code for them if possible! Check my GitHub.
Chipping Challenge

[Phil’s Note: I used a Unity template for this game and heavily modified it.]
Chipping Challenge is a smooth physics-based meditative golflike designed to chill you out. Seemingly simplistic, the gameplay is just challenging enough to be rewarding and the multiple playfields, procedurally generated courses, and per-level wind make every single game different.
In Chipping Challenge failure is punished only in the mechanical sense. Particle effects float in the air when the ball hits the ground and the player has a persistent, swooshing, trail. The music and sound effects have likewise been chosen to put the player at ease. It’s available for free on Itch.io for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android.
Rassler

Rassler is a pro wrestling career sim where every game is different.
Gameplay focuses on trying to make ends meet and progress up the rankings in the weird, wild, world of professional wrestling while keeping yourself healthy, sane, and most importantly making enough money to live on. Don’t forget: It ain’t how much you make, it’s how much you keep.
No one can go on forever, though, and so eventually your body and/or mind will just give out on you. You can always retire before that happens but it’s hard to say no to one more big payday… available free on Itch.io for Windows, Mac, Linux.
Duck Jumper

From the partially destroyed manual: “Make it to the far shore by jumping and running across a random assortment of helpful ducks, and do it over again! Keep doing it! Forever! As the nameless protagonist of Duck Jumper this sisypheantask is yours.”
Duck Jumper (also known as “Cyber Fowl Hopper” in parts of Europe, and simply “Jump!! With Duck” in Japan) was originally released in February 1987 for the EXTRAGAME 20-in-1 home console on magnetic tape cassette. Due to extremely limited (even for 1987) graphics, sound, and game play it was taken off of the market in March 1987 and promptly disposed of in a Wyoming landfill.
The game was miraculously rediscovered in March 2017 and is currently the intellectual property of Extra Future and is available on Itch.io for Windows and Mac.
Haunted Lair Defense

“Rated 10/10 In Better Bogs and Caves Magazine!”
Every 100 years, when the Ancient Spider awakens to gaze at the Haunted Mirror, a Floating Eye is born… this time it’s you.
Use your DESTROY-O RAY to shape a naturally occurring (proceedurally-generated with each new game) cave formation into your new lair- but beware! Conspiracies abound against you, and whole parties of adventurers seek your treasure and your eye stalks for their trophy room… available on Itch.io for Windows, Mac, Linux.
Bridgesketball, a mixed reality basketball game
Bridgesketball is a prototype basketball game for the Bridge mixed reality headset that I’ve been working on since around February 2018. Using some premade Unity assets and the Bridge Engine 1.0 release, I was able to get pretty far pretty quickly. Here’s a demo video:
The game as it stands allows you to:
1. Place and rotate a basketball hoop anywhere in a room
1. Shoot hoops from anywhere
1. Getting “on fire” if you hit 3 shots in a row
The ball bounces realistically and makes noise when it bounces off of different surfaces. When the ball gets really close to the hoop, time slows down to 50% to draw out the drama of hitting a long shot. Planned future additions include a “multiplayer on one headset” variation on HORSE, a “last second shot” mode, and maybe even playing against Bridget.
