Rumor - Code Pump Wing

I recently learned to dock start my 1300S and have been using it build up my pumping endurance and clean up my technique for prone/shore runners. While looking around for a more pump-specific foil from Code, I heard they have a pump foil coming this summer. Anyone have details?

In my head, hereʻs my wishlist:

Something between the 1300S and 1250R in performance
AR not too high, around 11 maybe? Would sacrifice a little turning over the 1300S.
Section with lower stall speed than 1300S, but not enough to make it blow up in tiny waves

Iʻve heard the bigger S wing pump worse than the 1300S and the 1250R sounds like it turns poorly and has too high a stall speed for beach starts. I think something in the middle could be a fun multi-purpose, more pump focused wing.

Sand or fill? Chipped tail

Trailing edge tip of this tail met a rock and I’ve procrastinated fixing it. Would you sand it and send it, or try to fill in with epoxy, graphite, and a tape dam? Unsure if it’s worth the effort.

I’m almost certainly not sophisticated enough to notice the difference, really. I just didn’t love the carbon flaking a bit.

Hydrophobic parawing

Has anyone tried to spray their parawing with a hydrophobic substance to help repel water? I have a “older” flow d-wing that I use pretty often. Really i think it’s a great wing for its age/time it came into production. That being said the canopy can get a bit sticky when wet. The tips sometimes stick together when relaunching a wet wing. Plus they are a bit heavier once wet. I’m wondering if I sprayed it with some type of hydrophobic spray made to repel water would help? Has anyone tried something like this. And or what products did you use?

Flat Water Pop Up Without Paddle, anybody?

Searched the forum but was afraid this quite special question may get lost in the big paddle up topic.

I know the 4 videos from Jeremy, Balz and Damien from nearly 4 years ago, but is there anybody else who invested time into getting up this way. The motivation? Last year I was parawing - wakethiefing as often on our lakes and when the wind dropped to zero, I was with some friends on the wrong side of the lake. I borrowed a paddle from a friend just to get up, pumped out to reach a wake that brought me home. Since then I asked myself, what’s next time, when there is no paddle available for the start? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to pop up on the foil anytime when needed, without Paddle?

I started one month ago with the need of 6 paddle strokes, my calculation was, every month one less to arrive at my goal. The calculation went wrong, actually I already had two tries with just 2 paddle strokes. Using an 6’6 iDW-board with a F-one JAM 1600 cm² as monofoil for my 64 kg.

Anybody else is sharing the challenge?

What would Red Bull do with foiling?

open question: what would Red Bull do with a foil event?

They have a knack for running the best version of a sports competition (and then quickly pulling the plug, thanks for getting my hopes up), I wondered what their take on foiling would be?

They are currently running a WingSphere thing which looks like a wing air/wave riding thing (lame), but I could imagine them doing it with Nikolas and Kai Lenny going head to head with strapped backflips or something. Would be pretty one-dimensional from our perspective, and ACL destroying, but that was the best I could come up with that I could imagine them running.

What would be the best version of a Red Bull foil event?

So I really appreciate the quick plate set up with the locking f one screws.I used it’s just nice and easy, and you don’t have to like, take em off and on every time.So it’s a little faster for me.And then I have the lock in plate so I don’t have to worry about where my mask is gonna move every time I hook it up

The fuselage is definitely thicker.She’s a big girl. I noticed it did feel a little bit draggy, I think, or I had some kind of like seaweed sensation definitely noticing.It was more difficult to paddle around, but it also could be the swell.Mix up hard to tell with the high air tide.I’ll let you know more tomorrow and update review.

First ride. It definitely feels more locked in. It feels like there’s very to little flex. If anything it doesn’t feel squishy, doesn’t feel like I’m questioning what’s gonna happen under my feet. I feel more confident with it. I feel like hold angles a lot better and rolls a little bit more easily. I found more confidence in my returns. And I think the biggest change was how the pumping felt a little bit more stiff, and there was a little bit more pressure on the front wing than I anticipated. And I had the ability to like dig out a little bit more in weird positions, though, I did ultimately a struggle with pumping back out today.

Is it worth the upgrade?

Im still 50/50…Maybe with the sushi coming up.

The stiffness change it is noticeable, especially for me at 212 pounds. I definitely noticed the rigidity. But is it really worth it? I’m not entirely sure quite yet. It felt like I lowered my car suspension. Whereas previously it was like a smoother ride. Now I feel every bump

SUP/prone foiling spots near NYC

I just moved to NYC (Manhattan) from the Bay Area. I’m looking for beginner SUP/prone foiling spots for the summer:

1-2 ft waves close to the shore
No crowds or other hazards

I’ve seen NJ shore (e.g Belmar, Bradley Beach) mentioned online. Anything closer to Manhattan? Is Rockaway feasible?

I’m planning on starting with SUP foiling (I have some basic gear and past summer’s experience) but interested in exploring prone.

The unspoken frustration of prone foil pumping

I just wanted to point out something thats obvious to prone foilers who pump, but isnt obvious to observers. The deception is as follows, watch a video of someone who rides a prone foil wave for 5+ minutes, he links one wave one time. The thought process is, wow, I can stay on foil all day long with just some pumping. The deception is, that guy started at point A, and ended at point B, in order to get back to the starting point, the guy needs to paddle for one hour or walk the beach for 30 minutes, then paddle out for 15 minutes.

Ekas Lombok AXIS 840 Spitfire - pure magic

This video shows it perfectly clearly. Take off is 0:05, link completed at 0.35 (30 sec of pumping), rides back at the same takeoff spot at 0.50 (15 sec of riding). I’ll tell you what, that’s a sh*t-ton of effort to ride just 15 seconds. I wish it were reversed. Something like 10 seconds of pumping and you get to ride 30 seconds. It’s just so not fair. That’s why I prone foil almost exclusively the 1250 DW wing, or find a spot that has a strong offshore wind to push me while pumping. Those are the only times i can stay on foil for 3-4 minutes pumping around without the start and end point being 1km apart. Its not fair to not be able to pump around for 10 minutes easily like I was originally advertised by the videos of Oskar, etc…

Also – if I didn’t want to pump and only ride that one wave, it would be more efficient to ride a single wave without linking using a surfboard. You paddle more efficiently a surfboard, you can takeoff on a larger wave with less risk, you can turn harder and smash the whitewater. The whole point of foiling (besides riding swells that are unrideable with a surfboard) is to be more efficient then surfing. Which means, youre the one on foil for 5 minutes pumping around when 100 surfers are battling for a peak to score a single 10 second ride, or just sitting on their boards for 30 min waiting for a set.

Ozone pocket rockets for sale. 2.4 and 3.6. Both in great shape with no damage or signs of wear. I shortened the lines on the 3.6 (looped on the bar, not cut) for easier stow and redeploy, easy to swap it back to stock length if you prefer at time of sale but I’d recommend trying it this way.

Asking $650 for the 3.6, $600 for the 2.4. PayPal preferred and shipping in the USA is included in the price.
