Unbless Smarter iKettle v3 after manufacturer seemingly discontinued service General My Smarter iKettle v3 stopped connecting recently. It runs on an Electric Imp chip. I contacted Smarter support and checked various forums — turns out this is happening to all iKettle users. Most likely Smarter stopped paying their Electric Imp bills.

I saw that you’ve unblessed devices before when manufacturers went out of business: https://forums.electricimp.com/t/reuse-imps-from-production-products-that-have-gone-out-of-business/6356

Could you do the same for my kettle? I can provide the MAC address.

Suddenlty getting realtime logging has stopped message on logs IDE & Tools I was trying to get the logs for 2000 devices, So i have wrote a script for that and after few days I am seeing this message on my logs

BlinkUp / Electric Imp apps for Android gone? BlinkUp Hi all. Coming back to E-I after a few years off and I need to change the wifi settings - but I don’t have the app on my new phone. It does not seem to be on the Google Play store either - where can I get it please?

I have tried from the IDE pages and app on my Macbook but it always fails - I recall the android app used to have a legacy/compatibility option which did always seem to work for me.

Any advice greatfully received. Thanks, Simon

April stopped talking to agent Agent Code I have an April that has been working flawlessly for the last 5 years and then on April 25 it stopped sending data to the agent. It is a simple temperature/humidity program. Before I post the code which hasn’t changed in five years is something new with legacy devices and the agent ? I tried recompiling the code and no errors.

Device infrequently online, quickly disconnects General On March 9, I tried to change my agent program to send notifications via pushover rather than IFTTT. The imp was working as expected but then started being mostly disconnected and only connecting once every hour or 2. I reverted back to the last stable version of the code but the device remains only intermittently connected.

I get the following error sequence every hour or 2:

SPI flash data logger library exception Feature Requests & Bug Reports Someone else in this forum posted about a spiflash logger bug 7 years ago, but no one replied to it. So I guess I’ll try posting about it here again to see if anyone knows how to fix this. An exception is thrown when the device uses spiflash logger library to read from the flash. The error being shown in the logs is:

Memory leaks with MQTT in agent Agent Code I have been trying to figure out why my agent code is losing data when it tries to send data from the device to an mqtt server. I have tried bracketing calls to imp.getmemoryfree() around various calls and it seems like I am losing memory during the publishing of new data to the server.

I am connecting to the server and then publishing some topics which seem to be the cause of the leak, but I don’t understand why since all the strings are local to the function. After several days of sending data the Agent runs out of memory and restarts. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong?

BlinkUp Imp-001 not working Hardware HI there, I bought in 2013 n.3 april boards and 3 Imp-001 dev.ed… Until last week I’ve never use them. Last week I tried to make blinkUp but only amber led. So I red all the posts on this forum about blinkup and for many hours tried all advices but nothing: only amber led.

  1. There is a way for electric-imp (if I send my imps) to make them usable?
    Let me know please.
  2. where is possible to buy new imps and board? On electric imp site, seems tha all is unavailable!

Using ADC to measure bidirectional battery current from shunt Device Code I’m using an Imp001 on an April dev board. I have an AD8418 current sense evaluation board output connected to Pin 9 on the Imp. I power the AD8418 with 3v3 from the Imp. The eval board is set up to measure voltage differential on a low side shunt (500A/50mv) with the output centered on 1/2 the supply (1.65v). I have confirmed 1.65v output from the AD8418 when no current is flowing through the shunt using my test meter connected at Pin 9. When I read the ADC I get a raw number of about 6300 when it should be 32768ish. I don’t see where I’ve gone wrong. Suggestions appreciated.

Electric imp dev kit General Hey are any of the Electric Imp dev kits still available? A group of us had purchased several of the April Dev kits with Imp001’s from maybe Adafruit around 2014 to build that NeoWeather pixel ring that was on featured on some website at the time. Looks like I had purchased an Imp01 Air Quality Kit which came with both the April dev kit and an Imp01 from the Electric Imp store direct in 2021. I have three still running and was thinking of building a few more for fun but I’m not finding the combined kit on the store anymore.

MQTT with HiveMQ Agent Code Hi,
I am trying to connect to via MQTT to HiveMQ cloud broker(free tier) through my agent but i constantly get:

ERROR: Failed to connect to ssl://XXXX.s1.eu.hivemq.cloud:8883 Error: Socket Error -1

Wiring it up as the docs state:

Stable dataflow now randomly failing / agent-side HTTP curl error code 45 Uncategorized The same agent code running our sensors which has worked splendidly is now all the sudden failing. It is an ElectricImp server issue. It is simply calling an AWS Lambda HTTPS POST webhook to pass sensor data. We are receiving httpresponse.statuscode 45, corresponding to a CURLE_INTERFACE_FAILED. This is some hardware-level/networking issue with the agent.

Can someone please comment on timeline for resolution? We are dead in the water.

Our operational sensors are now missing data for the first time ever due to EI server issues.

Budweiser Red Light App does not work General I was having issues connecting my Red Light, which I have had a few years. It is a V3, I could not get it to connect so I deleted the app from my Iphone, and re installed it, not the APP will not even load.

Anyone else having this issue?

The Red Light is flashing red. nit even a green every once in a while.

Date jumping back 1 hour Device Code I make call to date() and parse out hours and minutes. Creating minutes since midnight Recently, every so often date returns the hour exactly 1 hour back. This is pre tz offset, This code has run for years wo change and now started exhibit this issue
Any changes to date? I make the call often, a few times a minute. Once it changes it is stuck an hour back until I restart

Continuous disconnects Uncategorized Hi, This development device (C001) typically disconnects and then reconnects a few seconds later, once a day or so: c0010c2a69f0039c. However, for the past several days it has been disconnecting every 10 or 12 minutes, with the log showing an error message like the following:

BlinkUp LED behavior after deep sleep Uncategorized I’ve got a rather inconsequential question, but one I’m curious about, and not sure I’ve seen a succinct answer to in the docs or on the forum. When a device wakes from a (timed) deep sleep state, should the BlinkUp LED go through the same sequence as at power on / cold boot (my thought), or remain off ?

I have a program that runs just fine, coming out of deep sleep every 15 minutes for a few seconds taking some sensor readings then accessing WiFi and sending info to an agent, but I see no activity on the BlinkUp LED … it remains off the entire time. (The LED works fine, showing typical network access sequence with power cycles).

A few related details …

  • Imp-004 … OS 42.9

  • pretty simple code -

  • Not using imp.enableblinkup() anywhere in the code

I did however find this this link, which appears to indicate that the BlinkUp system should be active after deep sleep, but I’m not seeing this. I would just like confirmation of expected behavior, or if I might be overlooking something.

Again, not a particularly significant question, just something I would like to understand better. Thanks in advance for any comments or insight.

I am getting HTTP error 35, which seems to be a curl SSL/TLS handshake issue.

Is there any way this can be fixed?
It is not an option to turn of HTTPS.

Restarting due to Out of Memory General Hi, I’ve been facing random out of memory restarts in this [device].(https://impcentral.electricimp.com/ide/devices/40000c2a6914b374). I’ve tried with multiple testing to find if the restarts occur at regular intervals or after some event, but they don’t. They occur completely randomly.

Any suggestions as to why this can occur will be really helpful. Thanks.

SGP41 voc sensor not detected Hardware hi, i have problem with Sensirion SGP41. the sensor not detected by i2c scanner. tried with arduino and esp32 and have no problem, only with imp004 breakoutboard not detected.

Device time is incorrect after power cycle Hardware I’m having a similar issue to this question with an Imp001: Time() returning incorrect value after power cycle

While running the code from this example (A Power Efficient Refrigerator Monitor | Dev Center) the timestamp of the first reading is always Jan 1, 2000 if it starts from a cold boot after a power cycle. As mentioned in the post above, “The imp’s RTC time will be synced shortly after connecting.” But in practice, all the modifications I’ve tried to force a server connection prior to taking a reading have failed to update the time. Is there some method or pattern that will reliably force the time to be updated?
