​His name was Sean Stopperich. He was a central figure in the scandal that eventually led to SMU receiving the “Death Penalty,” a story later immortalized in an ESPN 30 for 30. He shared some things with me that I won’t mention here, but I always gave him credit for dealing with the aftermath and respected Temple for taking a chance on him.

​However, the person who made the most significant impact on my life was my head coach, Bruce Arians. The way he carried himself and treated people was amazing. It didn’t matter what your role was—star player, equipment manager, or anyone else on that staff—he made you feel special.

​I remember asking Coach if he had time to talk, and he told me to meet him in his office after practice. The first thing I noticed was a picture of him and the legendary Paul “Bear” Bryant on the sidelines at Alabama. He told me how much he admired “The Bear” and said nobody was better at rallying a team.

​I was in his office to tell him I was burned out. He knew why, and he tried to talk me out of leaving. He told me, “You’re going to have a chance to compete for a starting job once Todd Bowles leaves for the NFL. In the meantime, learn what you can from Todd and try to find the fun in the game again.”

​I eventually walked away from the game that had been my entire life. For years afterward, I couldn’t even watch football because it either hurt too much or I just had no interest. Looking back, who knows what could have happened? But the impact Bruce Arians had on me is something I cherish. How much that man means to me goes beyond words. He probably wouldn’t remember me today, but I hope that someday I get the chance to thank him. He’s the guy who taught me about the Heart—and that you can never go wrong if your actions come from there.

I am glad that he won a Super Bowl, he deserves it out of anyone and he should have been voted NFL Head Coach of the Year more than one time.

And Bruce Arians was all Philly tough and commanded a room. He could go from being serious and all business to joking around with us players in 30 seconds. Very special man he is to me.

In the 90ies: Call the ticket shop “Do you have a ticket for metallica in berlin?” “Sure, seat or standing” “Oh, sorry. I dont understand the question” “Do you want to sit or stand” “Lady, this is a Metallica show, not Bon Jovi” “Ok, I understand. A ticket for standing, right?”” “Ok, one please” - a few days later - the postman brings the ticket, and receive my money. All fine

I was kind of familiar with Metallica at that point, and knew and liked some of the tunes on Ride the Lightning (Fade to Black, in particular). Don’t think I’d even heard any of the Master stuff yet. But man, oh, man, that Metallica set blew me away. My 14 year old eyes had never seen anything like them. I’d seen Van Halen and Ratt and a few other hair bands at that point, but nothing remotely like what Metallica did. Just. . . intense.

After the set, the people out in the walkways of the venue were going nuts, screaming and chanting “Metallica!” I even saw some people leave, they were there for Metallica, not Ozzy. And while Ozzy was great that night, I thought he paled in comparison to ‘Tallica.

What can I say, it triggered a life long love of the band. I’ve now seen them, I don’t know, 60-70 times (who’s counting?), with the Sphere shows coming up in October. It was also the only time I got to see Cliff play, and I’m eternally grateful that I was able to.

I’ve been a Metallica fan for years, and their music had a huge influence on how I approach guitar and composition.

Together with my friend Alex, a classically trained pianist, we’ve just finished an original neoclassical crossover album called Renaissance. It blends classical structures with rock/metal energy — kind of a meeting point between orchestral writing and guitar-driven sound.

Metallica’s sense of dynamics, atmosphere, and emotional build definitely shaped parts of our approach, especially in how we structure tension and release.

This isn’t a cover project — everything is fully original, but rooted in the influences we grew up with.

If anyone here is into instrumental, cinematic, or neoclassical stuff, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

I bought a Chender (Chinese fake Fender) off of AliExpress and was very surprised by the quality of it. No sharp fret edges or dead frets. Once I got the action set-up to how I like it, it feels and plays great.

I recently ordered a Hetfield Vulture, just waiting for it to arrive. I know I will never be able to afford a real ESP. So a fake one is the closest I’ll ever get to owning one.

The last ones I had were 5mm and 7.5mm. They had to be broken up by laser after 6 months of pure agony.

Kidney stone pain is unimaginable. I can see why people say they have thought of suicide with them.

I’ve dealt with chronic pain for 7 years now, but kidney stone pain is absolutely horrendous.

I recognize this is a Vibee problem and unfortunately at this point it looks like I may be out of luck. I emailed and tried calling, but they are closed. Left a message and will continue to try.

Has anyone had any luck after receiving this email of getting your order/tickets reinstated? This is very disappointing. I was so looking forward to going and excited that I lucked out on getting tickets to only have the rug pulled out from under me for no reason. I don’t understand how Vibee can operate so poorly.

I know this isn’t the bands fault at all, but honestly the experience of getting tickets has become so terrible and then to have something like this happen really makes me wonder if it is even worth it. I love going to see the band, but unfortunately this is an experience that will certainly influence whether or not I want to go through this again to try to get tickets in the future.

I don’t have a vinyl player.

What should I get?

I would hook it up to my Yamaha TSR-700 AVR 5.1 home theater.

I don’t plan on buying any more vinyls. However, I might take some of my childhood vinyls from when I was a kid, from my parents, to my place. Now that I would have an actual player. Most of those are kids music, so not sure how much I would actually listen to them.

So, this Megadeth vinyl might be a one off. But I want to listen to it, since I’m getting it.

I could also see myself buying vinyls IF there was a vinyl exclusive with bonus tracks not available on any other format. Do you know any band and album that has done that?

But other than that, assume any recommendations for record players are for someone that will use it for a low volume collection, and probably does not need a lot of features to it. As long as I can simply connect it to my AVR, and it sounds good, and can play vinyls of different sizes and weights, that’s good enough for me.
