I still remember seeing the Sober video for the first time and being enthralled, just like everyone else. Massively heavy, yet with Maynard’s voice vulnerable as well.

The first In Flames I heard, and while it’s not my favourite, a great intro to the band where they’re at the crossroads between the Gothenburg sound and the more alternative leanings they do now.

Plus, you can wander around Plaka, which is at the foothill of the Acropolis and its a very traditional neighbourhoud (a bit touristy but for a good reason), near Monastiraki square if you are interested in some crate digging for second hand vinyl. Gazi is not far for nightlife (bars and live venues), and there are quite a few rooftop bars in your area with nice views as well.

I haven’t been to Athens since 2020 so locals may be better positioned to give you more specific tips about where to go / what to see, but you are staying in a nice area and getting to/from the Stadium won’t be an issue.

First of all: the drummer, and the lead guitarist is SICK AS HECK! Secondly: they are very fast-paced, and extremely dark (but, I do know that there are lots of other heavier metal bands out there in the world. Which this is just my opinion btw!) Overall, I will continue to listen to them some more, just so I can understand the lyrics/storytelling a bit better. And, finally: I just love, love, love the sexy, gritty, and that underground vibe feel. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::sign_of_the_horns:
