30 seconds doesn't even reach depth 30?

Why the limitation of 30 seconds per move? I don’t see how it makes sense to pay for a subscription here if I can’t even reach a depth of 30 for Stockfish 17.1 when I can reach way more than 30depth on lichess or on a local software? I don’t understand why the limitation, whats the difference between thinking 2 minutes on one move or thinking 30 seconds on 4 different moves?

something isn’t quite right with NCM imo since last few weeks. I mean, it’s possible its “resolution” for Elo trends has diminished (due to eg. SF15 being “too weak”), but that is highly doubtful imo

FEN parsing bug

When I paste this FEN string (position after move 2 of the Sicilian), the NCM board puts an X on c6 indicating an en passant capture is possible on that square.

As far as I can tell, this happens in every position where the last move was a pawn two squares forward.

Toggle Auto Pawn-Promotion On/Off

Hello, I have the setting “Move Automatically” turned on and when the engine pushes a pawn to rank 8 it auto promotes to a random minor/major pieces (i’ve gotten rooks 2 times and a bishop once). I promote to Q 99% of the time so if auto promote to Q is possible, that would be ideal, otherwise is there a way to just turn OFF auto pawn promotion while using this setting?

I input the board into Next Chess Move and when I pressed calculate next chess move, it was calculating for an hour straight and it still hasn’t calculated the next move. Is the board in proper? or how could this happen? Here is my board and you can see it calculating but its been like that for an hour now. Or if you now the next best move in algebraic chess notation then please comment below.

Hi Chad, I recently found a website called https://chessexpert.io/ and it has a few features I think would be helpful or maybe make it easier to understand what the chess engine is “thinking.” This feature is a “show moves” option that visually represents the engine’s thought process via arrows on the board, this gets rid the complex calculations behind each move. The second feature is called ponder which shows the thought process of the chess engine thinking ahead in time and saying, “what would my opponent do?” There’s also a side bar that shows which color is closer to winning.

Paid for NCM Pro but Did Not Receive

Hi, I paid for NCM Pro, but there was an issue with the payment platform that prevented the transaction from completing on the website.

However, on my bank statement, it shows a deduction of $19.00 corresponding to NCM Pro. Please help me resolve this issue so that I can receive the product I paid for, thanks.

Leela with last network family T81-817216 not working!

When using Leela with last Network family T81-817216, the engine when downloaded get disconnected. However, Leela is working with old networks such as T79.

I also notice the size of the networks since T81 increased in size.

Ability to reset boards to x moves ago

I often use NCM to run possible scenarios to various situations. It would be great to have the option of setting the board back x number of moves so that I don’t need to reset the board every time I run a scenario to the point where I know enough whether it’s a good or a bad move.

Noob question +- as black

I’m using NCM to learn. I’m playing games as white and black against bots and using NCU to help me understand options.

So the +/- numbers returned on various moves. I’ve read the + means white is in a better position and - means black in in a better position. Is that true of NCM?

IE if I am playing as black I want to be evaluating the most negative moves?

Hello,
I think it would be a good idea to replace (upgrade) the HW that these engines run on. The same HW has been available since the inception of this site. I wouldn’t mind paying a little extra for better HW.
