• Every single time I open Trakt on firefox on Android, it’s asking me to select functional cookies or all cookies. I select functional (because who want’s to be trakt?) but literally I have to do it every time I refresh or go to the page again.

• I open up trakt on my android device (I used to use my computer, but now it insists that my browser is outdated even though I have the latest version of firefox). I click “Functional Cookies only” but if click to another page, or refresh it asks me to select the cookie choices again.

• I’m not able to hide watched episodes in lists. As on screenshot I selected Hide Seen and still seen and unseen episodes are displayed

They doubled the price for VIP, yet the experience is worse and support seems to be non existent. This isn’t a minor issue and even if they don’t have a fix, they should acknowledge it with a response to the support request and here in the forums. When will people learn that just ignoring your customers isn’t a great strategy for continued success.

• Sometime in the last couple fo days the “up Next” section on my dashboard page has stopped showing anything. There are many things that shoudl be there. They show in the ios app but not the web site. I have tried on different browsers on different pc’s

• I am sure the arrow spinner used to rotate while it was finding the content. Now it doesnt do anything.

The V2 trakt web experience has, in all honesty, always been one of my go-to examples for good web app UX. And there are extremely few web apps that I would consider to have good UX.

There’s enough information density in V2 while still being image-rich and visually pleasing. The new UI is just blank. All the important navigation elements are sprinkled seemingly randomly around the page, not a single positioning or spacing seems to line up with anything else. Most stuff is hidden behind extra clicks for no reason, and the icon-only priority is very ambiguous. In V2, it always seemed intuitively clear where to click to get something done. In V3, everything is guesswork. Is it maybe just hidden? Is it missing entirely? Or am I misinterpreting one of the icons?

Elements are logically placed in V2, with clear separations between different sections. In V3, everything is thrown onto a single pile with little rhyme or reason, and no way to visually distinguish one thing from the other.

V2 had awesome information visualisation. The progress bars beneath shows were the most helpful thing ever for a site like this. Season overviews, watch and comment history, genre and ratings overviews, everything was easily available and immediately understandable. V3 seems to have just deleted everything? I can still see a checkmark on what I marked as watched, and… that’s pretty much it. I can find the number of remaining episodes, if I know where to look. But my actual progress? No idea. What made me choose Trakt over any of the alternatives were the massive amounts of information, stats, sorting and filtering options. Most of that is gone now.

And the lists… where is my watch history? I see 2 movies when I open the page. If I scroll to the footer, then back up, then to the footer again, then back up again, it loads 2 more movies. Another footer-top-footer-top-footer and I see 2 more movies. At some point, the infinite scroll recovers and starts working somewhat (although it ends after ~4 months?), but… it’s infinite scroll.

UX experts have been warning for more than a decade now that infinite scroll is almost always a terrible idea. It is always worse than clear pagination, like V2 had, for uncountable reasons. I’m flabbergasted that a website still chooses to implement infinite scroll these days.

I don’t enjoy being too negative, but the functionality of the site is just gone in V3. 99% is missing. Which would be one thing if it was a super visually pleasing upgrade, but the new look is an inconsistent hodgepodge of spacings and icons and rounded corners and scrollbars, nothing lines up, nothing matches anything else. If I saw the two sites next to each other and didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought V2 was the upgrade to V3. I’m not exaggerating when I say that in 30 years of using the web, as far as UX and UI design go, Trakt V2 is one of my best-rated experiences ever, and Trakt V3 one of my worst-rated ever¹. Something went wrong guys!

I really hope you’ll keep V2 around, otherwise it’ll also be the end of my VIP subscription, because my flows simply don’t work anymore.

¹ Another one that ranks close to the bottom, thematically related, was the MobyGames redesign while they were owned by Gamefly. But even that wasn’t as bad, because it just broke the UI, without acutally removing any functionality (as far as I remember). My biggest hope is that what happened with MobyGames will also happen with Trakt: the community outrage about the redesigned site was so universal, that they reversed course, emergency-restored the old site, and rededicated their efforts to improving the older, better site, which worked and which users liked.

If it’s for the full series, then why were the episodes updating until March and then stopped?

heres my problem:

• Can’t access list settings and add collaborators neither on iOs nor in Browser

• When i go to my lists and try to add collaborators I only have options to share a link to the list, delete or rename it

• I assume this happens since the new UI, because in the Feature Tutorial there is this option for sure, but with the old UI

• I think for iOS it was not possible anyways, but even on desktop i can’t access the collab settings

• Hi, I’m glad to see that a new Progress Page is being worked on. I’d like to ask if any sorting options are planned for it? Currently the In Progress section sorts the shows based on how many episodes we’ve got until completion.

• That in itself is a bit chaotic, since the shows we’re currently watching can sometimes be spread all over the place, especially if you’d just started a long running sitcom or a reality show like Survivor. Hopefully more sorting options will be added soon.

• That issue is specific to the WEB version. I’m an Android user, so I’ve got no idea if that’s already been addressed in the iOS version of the service where some of the new features arrive first.

if you go to an episode page the horizontal scroll is still there, you can see it below the episodes in my screenshot. as far as the scrolling with the mouse, hold down shift and then use the wheel, its the best way for now with whats implemented

+1 for this request, the check mark is harder to see on desktop but its not too bad on mobile/app

• I can’t find a way to go back to Trakt Classic. If we can only use lite now, it needs a lot more work.

• Episodes of a shows have the year listed at the top, but not the release day/date or time? Please add that.

• When we are on the page of a specific episode, please add forward and back arrows so we can easily go to the next or previous episode.

• I preferred the scrolling list of episodes that scrolled left and right instead of clicking the arrow to open a list on the side of the screen. It’s too tedious to search and switch episodes in the list now. The only problem with the sideways scrolling list was that the scroll bar kept hiding itself unless you moused over it in just the right spot. Please bring back the sideways scrolling list and make the scroll bar always visible. It would be a bonus if you could make it scroll sideways with the mouse wheel if the mouse pointer is hovering over the list.

• Please add the option to make episodes go dim if they are marked as watched. I miss that feature and the little check marks are hard to see quickly.

• I can’t find the movie "Brotherhood of Blades 3 : Infernal Affairs" on trakt.

I came to the forums searching for how to see if a season is already in a list (from the show page rather than having to check all of your lists individually) in the new UI when I found your post. I didn’t even realize you can no longer add individual seasons to lists in the new UI. This is incredibly frustrating. I’m VIP so I can still access V2 but even that doesn’t work properly and I frequently have to log out and back in to get back to V2. Plus, they’ve already said it’s going away for VIP as well.
