About Amazonite

Amazonite is a vivid blue-green to turquoise variety of microcline feldspar, colored by trace amounts of lead and water within its crystal lattice. Despite its name suggesting an Amazonian origin, the finest gem-quality material has traditionally come from Colorado, Russia, and more recently Ethiopia and Madagascar. Its bold, opaque color and attractive grid-like white streaks, known as perthite, make it a popular cabochon and carving material.
