Welcome to the KidCode Visual Interpreter community! 🎨 KidCode is an educational programming language designed to teach coding fundamentals through visual, interactive learning with our friendly turtle "Cody." As an educational project that aims to inspire young minds and make programming accessible to learners of all ages, we are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging environment.
Our community includes educators, students, parents, developers, and anyone passionate about making programming education fun and accessible. We believe that learning should be joyful, collaborative, and free from barriers that might discourage participation.
We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in the KidCode Visual Interpreter 🎨 in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of:
- Age
- Body size
- Visible or invisible disability
- Ethnicity
- Sex characteristics
- Gender identity and expression
- Level of experience
- Education
- Socio-economic status

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.
Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment for our community include:
- Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback
- Taking responsibility and apologizing for our mistakes
- Focusing on what is best for the community, not just for ourselves
Examples of unacceptable behavior include:
- The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or email address, without their explicit permission
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
Project maintainers are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Project maintainers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject contributions (e.g., issues, pull requests, code, wiki edits, comments) that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct.
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces — including:
- GitHub repositories,
- issue trackers,
- pull requests,
- community communications
as well as when an individual is officially representing the project in public spaces.
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the project maintainers through discord or Tag maintainer.
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.
The project maintainer is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.
Project maintainers will follow these guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:
Community Impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome.
Consequence: A private, written warning and clarification of expectations.
Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.
Consequence: A warning with possible consequences for continued behavior.
Community Impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.
Consequence: Temporary ban from participation in community spaces.
Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation or harassment.
Consequence: Permanent removal from all community interaction.
