IPIC Survey Summary Page
IPIC Comments Data logger analysis show that both temperature and CO2 were within range of requested set point. However, the O2 levels were high and outside range, which would have increased the respiration and subsequent the maturity of the fruit. Furthermore, a transit time of 66 days would have taken the fruit to the limit of the shelf life, which may have exacerbated the damage condition.

Copies of temperature recorder attached No Please state opinion on likely cause of damage Surveyor's opinion is due to the long storage of the container (66 days) in transit ports, as per tracking the container may be left running without checking the temperature control for proper cooling the bananas, resulted in ripening the fruit. Could be loaded over matured bananas also.

Stage 12: Additional Information
Additional information not already covered in the report
The survey is carried out at the secured Port Terminal and at the port there are security, port police, customs, port health, and other political, Media staff are roaming around for inspections. We carry out survey of food items with utmost care and with the assistance of the consignees as quickly as possible to avoid problems.
If the surveyor open carton by carton of bananas for inspection of the cargo condition, there are chances that the inspectors may notice the overripe, rotten, chilled banana and they will confiscate the goods, the container, and detain the persons involved. Detailed inspection of cargo as per IPIC requirement at port terminal is not possible due to above restrictions.
Conclusion / Summary
Undersigned surveyor has given due consideration to his survey findings to the ripe bananas sighted present upon the survey, to the information obtained, and are made available. On this basis that the cause of ripening to the shipment of bananas may fairly, and reasonably be attributed to transit delay 66 days, temperature abuse in transit, and could be loaded overmature bananas.
It is the shipper's responsibility to ensure the correct temperature setting of the container. Temperature setting and postharvest life are highly dependent on commodity packaging prior to stowage and pulp temperature during loading. B.L. remarks : Goods shipped in refrigerated container(s) set at shipper's requested carriage temperature SHIPPER'S LOAD, STOW, WEIGHT AND COUNT.
