Data logger analysis show that both MMAU1031675 & MMAU1007581 were having issues with with high level of oxygen during the  voyage. High oxygen level combined with a transit time of 53 days, would have caused increased respiration and maturity, which may  have been exacerbated by pre­existing conditions within the fruit.

According to surveyor, only a limited cartons were inspected due to safety concerns, however the surveyor commented that 99% of  the load was mix of green hard and soft bananas, which beg the question if both container were a total loss, as the claim amount  would suggest.

There are in total 10 containers on the BL, but apparently only 2 were found to have problems with the quality of the fruit, which would  suggest that cargo damage is mostly due to carriage conditions i.e. CA condition not  being within range of set point.
