connect1.c  - A program that connects to a MySQL database

connect2.c  - A program that uses a MySQL connection

select1.c  - A program that uses mysql_store_result

select2.c  - A program that uses mysql_use_result

select3.c  - A program that displays fetched data

select4.c  - A program that displays fetched column details

insert1.c  - A program that inserts data

insert2.c  - A program that reports on data inserted

update1.c  - A program that updates data

You may have to adjust the compile line in the Makefile, different distributions need slightly different compile options, and it seems to change with each release.

In particular some systems may need -L/usr/lib/mysql modifying, and some may need the include directory changing to find include files.
