This is not high-priority, but worth a thought on cleaning up.

Proposed fix

Decide whether:

• they stay as changed in DOC: Fix doc builds with Sphinx 9 #31020 (global default that could be user-overwritten)
• make private
• make constant (TOOL_DEFAULTS)
• we need documentation for the default values
