The ftDuino can be connected directly to most android devices like smartphones or tablets using a so-called USB on-the-go (USB OTG) cable.

The ftDuino setup for the Arduino IDE contains a demo sketch under FtduinoSimple/USB/AndroidDemo which can be used in combination with the ftDuinoDemo app.
