  1. Kill a karma dependency issue most clumsily 

    `npm i` with rtd pointed at the main github repo has started to fail
with peer dependency conflicts around Karma. Removed all exact version
requirements and repackaged, letting npm have its own ideas about the
state of the dependency graph and hoping for the best.
