HomeHub’d Apple TV Tailscale Interfering w/Apple HomeKit Devices #9854

What is the issue?

On my network I have two Apple TV 4K, four HomePod’s, four HomePod Mini’s and a number of HomeKit devices to control lights, outlets and a pump.

Both Apple TV’s have Tailscale installed and are connected to an exit node. This functionality works perfect!! When “home hub” functions are managed by one of the HomePod’s the HomeKit devices function as expected. When one of the Apple TV’s act as a home hub with Tailscale running, HomeKit device communication is erratic. The erratic behavior is best reflected in the Home app. The HomeKit devices in the Home app will report “Updating” for an extended period of time and are not functional. Then, they become functional but with delays in executing the on or off request only to start reporting “Updating” soon after.

Are there any recent changes that introduced the issue?

I had no issues with HomeKit devices until the installation and activation of Tailscale on my Apple TV’s and one of the Apple TV’s assumed home hub management.
