As more devices are Internet-connected, you have more opportunities to be "alerted" about important events (for example, alarms, system alerts, or warnings/errors/failures). Many of these devices can send email messages. You can send text message alerts to mobile devices by email using email-to-SMS/MMS addresses. I default to the MMS gateway. If there is any chance that your device will send an image, use your MMS option.
