On free software funding, Alex commented via Matrix

I was thinking about the funding issue over the weekend. One aspect of funding I would like to see is to try to get funding targeting open source software for end users. 

I think getting corporations to help pay is great but I often think the type of corporate commons software that's useful for huge companies and the types of software that's good for us are quite different.

If funding came from users or end user distros I think you'd see different kinds of open source software
