> Definitely going to contribute to Immich now that donations are open. Hoping that can be a sustainable model. Also, if you haven't tried it, immich-go is a great utility for Immich users. Point it at a Google takeout zip and it adds all your Google Photos to Immich with albums and metadata intact. Can also import arbitrary folders of pics.

> To help solve the offline texting problem along with your want to have something to communicate with the family if the grid goes down check out Meshtastic. we use it for off-grid location sharing and messaging when off-roading. it works pretty well. We use the Heltec V3s which you can get pretty cheap.

> I was listening to my totally amazing members feed that I am extremely grateful for you guys providing. But, I couldn’t boost, so I came over here to first remind people they need to boost AND become members. But really, I wanted to say that I would happily pay $99 per year for Immich, especially if it meant others in the community benefited whether they could pay or not. That’s what drew me into Open Source, it’s always that tide that lifts all boats, when it doesn’t it typically fails.

> re: OS discussion hexos and Jupiter infra 2.0: I cannot imagine deploying a non immutable distro now. Centos bootc on servers and nixos on the desktop. Installing a normal distro feels like using X11 or something antiquated! Talking about antiquated I expect JB infra 2.0 to be fully onboard IPv6 - get them quad As out! I'd say make it v6 only, but my university internet isn't quite there yet :(

> I view pihole much like plex. It’s a gateway into the self hosting world. I used to use it and have a fondness for it in my heart. As with all my stuff, it’s heavily influenced by you all. I recently switched from pfsense to Opnsense (n100) and Opnsense has an AdGuard home plugin. The big win with AdGuard home is wildcard dns re-writes. Makes split dns with tailscale super easy. Also there are some cool one button clicks to block websites like Facebook or tinder or whatever you don’t want your kids getting onto.

> Connecting two topics from last time: no internet required home setup and robot vacuums. Take a look at the Valetudo project. Custom firmware for a lot of brands, and it will run completely self hosted. No app required anymore. Of course it integrates nicely with mqtt and home assistant.
>
> Also question for you: I want to run some new stuff (primarily tubearchivist) in proxmox and currently using lxc containers for most studd. Should I use docker in a vm or bite the bullet and set it up in NixOS. Also want to try out the Nextcloud nix module, and learn nix, but is it a sustainable path having proxmox as a hypervisor? Or should I also consider replacing that altogether.

> Just like DarkFrogDK, I’m also keeping my eyes on any Europe meet-ups. Particularly if it’s in Denmark. Would love to hear you guys speak more of meshtastic and other LoRa based smart home stuff (maybe more the latter). I live in an apartment where the electricity meter sits in the basement, too far for WiFi to reach. I would like to attach an esp32 to it and get data from it using a project called amsreader-firmware.

> One of your picks this show was SendGrid. I use this for a minor application at work, and one thing that needs to be considered is that some corporate ITs will blacklist e-mails from SendGrid. They're rejected and never reach the users inbox, not even spam. My company is one of them, and I'm sure there are others out there as well.

> Hey guys 👋 no need to read this on the show, just wanted to say thank you for the show. Started listening fairly recently and I really love it. Can't wait to explore the other formats of JB too. I spent the last two years of my leisure building out my van in which I now live/work/travel full-time. Of course I put in a RPi for controlling/monitoring/automating. I would love to exchange some thoughts/ideas/recommendations with you Chris. I will drop you a message on Matrix later next week. CU
