Aaron has a self-hsoted location tracker he really likes

I'm writing in about the location tracking you did for your road trip (https://colonytracker.live/).

I imagine that in your research you came across the NextCloud app called "PhoneTrack" (https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/phonetrack). If you didn't, I'd humbly recommend that you have a look. I believe I heard you mention that you already have a Jupiter Nextcloud instance, so it would be very easy to get installed.

It's just one of those great open-source projects I'd love to see blossom, and just getting the word out about it would be a great help :-)

I have been on a journey to De-Google, and location tracking was important for the Wife and I, and PhoneTrack has successfully replaced the Google "Find my Device" (minus the remote wiping). It's actually provided more up-to-date locations, and the battery life on the Phone has not show any hits.

Most important though, the location data is **mine**, not someone else's.

I just spun up a Linode Nextcloud instance (thanks to your promotional credit), and have had PhoneTrack successfully working for over a month now. There is an Android app, and you can share your location publicly (like you did with OwnTracks), or privately amongst other users on your NextCloud instance.

One thing to note though, when you set up a new device, it does have the public link turned on by default (which I hope changes), but there is a toggle to turn that off no problem.

Thanks to you and your Team for the great content!

Stay Awesome,
Aaron
