Shem wants our thoughts on SOLID...

Hi Chris and Mike,

I was listening to 440 with the discussion about Web3. I was wondering if you have looked at SOLID (https://solidproject.org). It was started by Sir Tim Berners-Lee and promises (in my opinion) an actual decentralized internet with a better implementation.
That being said, SOLID is going to have a hard time catching on, since Pods (containers for your personal data that you control) have to be hosted somewhere. Not necessarily something the common user will do. On top of that, it won't be easy to monetize and big companies won't give up data.
As far as the discussion on Web3 goes, it's just another scheme to create a hype train and bandwagon while not really delivering on the premise.
