Look at apps like AntennaPod and Pocketcasts. What have they done for Podcasting in the last 5, 8, or 10 years?
While massive commercial, corporate platforms kick Podcasts ass with features that have drawn in users and money, these apps did nothing.
Not even the most basic shit like standardizing chapters, or coming up with some way to play a live stream.
Fountain and the others are trying something that brings fresh life and new ways for shows like ours to innovate. They are doing it all as an open source, open standard, with no algorithm or giant tech company making a cut.
From where I sit, Podcasting is facing a fork in the road, and the only thing that will take us down a path that isn't owned by Google or Spotify is USERS and PODCASTERS adopting Podcasting 2.0.
We are at a real chicken and the egg moment. And if this community can't be bothered to help sort out these rough edges, IE engage with the developers, engage with he betas, use the software - Who the fuck will?
And where does that leave us?
