Tim on why NixOS would be great.
Which Distro for New Server? I voted NixOS for the following reasons...
1. You ran Arch long enough to show it works. I love Arch! But it's time to move on...
2. Fedora & SuSE are popular enough that while using the rolling variants might be "interesting", they're ultimately close to well-established server distros that they aren't _as interesting_ as NixOS.
3. NixOS is off the beaten path, makes a lot of claims toward reliability, and would be the most interesting, I think, for you audience as it is something novel. Besides just seeing if it works, you could really take the chance to kick it's tires and poke around its ecosystem, learning new things together with your audience. Many might be Nix-Curious... Caveat is that it is probably further from your comfort zone w/r/t production servers. But isn't that at least a part of the point in doing this? Not just to test the boundaries of rolling distros. But maybe stretch your skill-set "boundaries" as well?
If you don't go with NixOS, I think it would still be interesting if you test it out on _something_ for an extended time just to see how this strange beast works.
