I like Chris's definition of "anyone choosing to use Linux" for a Linux user, because its open to lots of different reasons and use cases

To make a brief sort of counter argument though, one reason to focus or push for the Linux desktop (aside from the part of a Linux podcast audience probably caring a lot about that) is because its the easiest entry point for a lot of people. Most folks aren't going to manage servers, be doing dev work, or really experience the benefits of Linux on their Android phone. So by talking about the desktop and pushing folk to support devs, we can help make that entry point better

That doesn't mean we should shame people for not using the desktop. That's awful motivation. We should strive to make this little niche of the world work well, because it has a lot of positive impact on peoples lives now and has the potential to impact many more
