DECbot fell into the uniform lifestyle
Episode 481, you were discussing the uniform lifestyle. My place of were has no such requirement, but since I occasionally do travel to customers for tech support, I'm allotted 5 free shirts a year. The choice was between salesy, white or blue, button-down shirts with tastefully embroidered logos on the breast or black polos also featuring the embroidered logo. Naturally, I chose the black polos since the customer production floor is typically a dirty industrial environment where everything is coated in metal dust--especially the Linux welders I'm working with. After a decade of free polos, my wardrobe evolved into a collage of corporate black polos with generations of marketing obsoleted logos and slogans that I generally pair with jeans.
In the morning, my choice has devolved into, "what is clean and how old is the logo?" I tend to hang the clean laundry in the back of the closet and pull shirts from the front so all shirts are cycled evenly.
I hear JB has a bunch of shirt merch on some website--5 to 10 shirts should set you up for daily wear leaving your nerd shirts for special occasions and safe from daily wear, tear, and abuse.
Thanks for all the shows!
