Joe's thoughts regarding funding more OSS Devs
In regards to helping fund more open source developers, I think if the federal government(s) had policies to allow for tax rebates on corporate taxes if companies support / donate to open source it would be a step in the right direction. Perhaps open that while closing a loop hole here or there in the same tax year.
If open source developers could be treated as a valid charity without having to get approval beyond proof from their license and open repository as proof, then corporate can base their donations with proof the code supported is open source, then get a tax deduction.
It would allow for an incentive to donations to be done without an immediate cost / deficit. Would also help incentivize younger devs.
