Unlearning Gravity

I'm a lecturer and researcher in mathematical physics at Queen Mary, University of London, and I enjoy teaching people about the work I do, in particular gravity which is the topic of my research. I've followed a non standard path into physics myself, via engineering, finance and an Open University degree, so I know what it is like to be curious and to feel frustrated by either overly simplified or overly complicated explanations. I hope these videos will hit the sweet spot for you! My current plan is to create a course of lectures on concepts in general relativity, really focussing on the basics and where necessary "unlearning" a lot of the unhelpful approximations you may have encountered in childhood physics courses. I will try not to assume too much and so where necessary I will revise the maths and physics concepts that will be needed. I will also try to connect to where this is important for some aspect of current research in gravity. I prefer to charge per piece of content rather than membership, so if you only want to watch one video a year that's fine and you can set your own pace. Anyone is then welcome to follow my work, watch the videos and provide feedback. When I have time I will address common queries in posts, but let's see how we go!
