Anyone going to NY comicon next month? I was thinking about attending this year. Haven't been in about...5 years.

Anyone?

Not only am I running on Australia time, up all night and sleeping between 10 am and 4 pm every day, but my renewed S/B obsession just won't let me stop reading. There's a tremendous amount of fic that I've never read. And it's all so good.

Besides reading [livejournal.com profile] arysteia bigbang identity porn fic of wonderfulness, I read [livejournal.com profile] ava_jamison archive and have been reading through [livejournal.com profile] fictionalknight's massive archive all day (and still have a long way to go). She must have 100 stories or more of consistently outstanding S/B. I've been leaving comments on every chapter, and I'm sure people are going to get tired of hearing me gush. lol I probably should stop commenting. Some people get tired of getting comments on old stories.

Anyway! I love it when there's a lot of great fanfic to read for a favored pairing. :))

...Like a PHOENIX!!!

So...spent all night long reading Superman/Batman fic. Haven't really read any in a very long time. I've done a lot of reading of other ships but haven't really had the mind to jump back into Bruce and Clark.

But a couple of weeks ago, someone went and read all my old S/B stories and left me a million gillion comments...which caused me to try to remember what the HELL I was thinking when I wrote some of the things I wrote...which made me feel like reading ALL my old S/B fic all over again (Except Hookerino. Even thinking about that series makes me tired...). Surprisingly, I still think some of those stories are pretty good and I could finish them all, with a little bit of effort.

THEN I started looking around to see if there were other S/B fics I should read to get caught up after 2.5 years of not reading hardly anything, and perhaps I should try to update the S/B archive...and somehow, I stumbled across [livejournal.com profile] skund and this author has like THIRTY Bruce/Clark fics that I've never read, and has a knack for writing them in the type of characterization that appeals to me.

Now I'm hooked again. Damn you [livejournal.com profile] skund. Just when I think I'm out...

Anyway, now that I'm up-to-date with one author, I found a [livejournal.com profile] comicsbigbang story called That Which We Call A Rose...Bruce, Clark, first time meeting, identity porn...I'm only in the first chapter and Bruce and Clark have met in Gotham, in an elevator, and Clark doesn't know who Bruce is...

Hooked again. Damn.

Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] alice_montrose (who rocks) and who pointed me in the right direction of a fix for the problem of a person commenting to your journal and selecting the fb and twitter connect options.

These little scripts REMOVE the option altogether. :)) I'm using the first one at the moment and it was simple to implement and works perfectly:

Huh? Is this cross posting thing going to allow other people to post my journal entries? That makes no sense.

Please -- if you are on my f-list and are the type of person who would ever think of cross posting an entry of mine, please de-friend me. Thanks!

ETA: False alarm. The LJ facebook feature is exactly like the connect tool on any service linked to another social networking site. If you don't enable it, and you don't have a fb or twitter it's a moot point. A person can cross-post a comment but not the original post. If the comment links back to the original post that's locked, the person following the link won't have access to the locked post. Seems harmless.

ETA: Alarm! Alarm! Apparently, the comment features DOES circumvent a locked post. Whoa. NOT good.

Does anyone want to give me a comprehensive update on the state of dreamwidth usage in fandom? I know some people have migrated there permanently, but are they still able to interact effectively on LJ? Does DW have its own scene or is it still just an alternative location and the people who have migrated are still functionally operating in fandom on LJ?

Does anyone have a feel for how many people have left LJ? Can a person effective maintain a journal in both places with ease?

I'd appreciate some feedback! Thanks--

Anyone watch Rubicon, the definition of a slow-ass show? I have this terrible feeling like I want to slash Will and his supervisor Kale (Arliss Howard). lol Kale is gay on the show and so mysterious-like that he has this palpable chemistry every time he talks. I just want to see him hit on Will, for some reason. It would make a half-boring show so much more interesting...

It may be that I simply think Arliss Howard is kinda sexy, in that George Clooney sort of way, ;)

Anyway, time to search around the webs, because if there is one thing to be learned about fandom, if I feel they should be slashed, someone, somewhere has already done so...

I write like
Douglas Adams

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Hmm... I'd prefer to write like Ray Bradbury, or someone, considering I've never read anything by Adams, not even Hitchhiker's Guide. Oh well. ;)

I just spent a truly ungodly amount of time getting caught up in the Merlin fandom, watching the season 2 episodes and reading the nominations so I can vote in the Merlin Slash Awards ([livejournal.com profile] merslashawards). Trying to pick a winning candidate in each category was a lot of hard work, so I thought I'd record my choices here in case anyone needs recs or help with their ballot. VOTE HERE

Caveats:

You can actually vote for two stories in each category but I only chose one. I also tried not to vote for the same story in multiple categories. If a story was nominated in more than one category, I voted for it in the category I thought it was most competitive, and then I took it out of consideration in lesser categories. I hate seeing one story sweep multiple categories when there is so many great stories out their that deserve recognition.

I also strayed away from voting for AUs in any category other than the AU category proper. There seems to be a more pronounced trend in the Merlin fandom to write the characters in modern settings. To me, the stories tend to read like contemporary slash with the characters simply named "Merlin" and "Arthur". Not that I don't like some of the settings but it's hard to really get the essence of the original characterizations by taking them out of the medieval setting with the overt magic altogether. Seems like a bit of an...avoidance of the hardest parts. So I sort of disqualified AUs in my mind from the main categories like Best Epic and Best Romance since, you know, the entire fandom setting was missing. *g*

Anyway, here's my ballot:

Does anyone need a google voice invite? Fifty million years after I requested one they finally sent it and I no longer need it.

Comment if so.
