Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my February 2026 review. Overall, I watched 28 new movies this month, taking the total for the year to 59! This month was full of Oscar best picture nominations and some other good movies.
Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my January 2026 review. Overall, I watched 31 new movies this month. January is usually a month full of stellar movies, as the awards season is starting. However, the movies I watched this month didn't reflect this.
I came across an issue with Laravel's custom maintenance mode and JSON content-negotiation, but I was able to fix it with the exception handler.
Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my December 2025 review and the final one of the year. Overall, I watched 35 new movies this month, taking the total for the year to 430!
This phenomenon is link rot, or more broadly, digital decay. This isn't a future problem. It's happening right now, steadily and without fanfare. Pages disappear when servers go offline. Domains expire and get squatted. Companies fold and take their entire archives with them.

_Owning your own data is hard. I've been trying to own as much as I can, and my site has become a reflection of that process, both in what I display and discuss. As difficult as it is, there's a freedom in owning as much as you can.

_It was a beautiful and predictable scheme. Once you knew how it worked, you could guess other URLs. If I were typing an email or authoring a blog post and I happened to have a link to your photo in Flickr, I could also easily include a link to your Flickr homepage just by editing the URL, without having to jump back to the browser to verify.

I headed west through the fields to Irby Dale and Swallow before following trails out to Rothwell. I returned via farm tracks and roads before joining more bridlepaths back towards Beelsby and finally down Scrub Holt and Lopham Lane. There were some decent climbs and a few descents, which I found sketchy on my dropbar gravel bike. The bumpy fields weren't nice and felt much better on my full-sus, but some of the gravel roads felt fast and fun.
