The student is facing two charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, Lawrence Police said in a statement.

In a statement to the Globe, State Higher Education Commissioner Noe Ortega said he “[appreciated] the action the college’s Board of Trustees took upon learning of the allegations" against former president John Cox.
