GPS gets you within 30 feet. An EMLID Reach RS3 gets you within an inch. On a live job site, that difference is a struck utility or a safe dig. Skender's Ben Stocker and Daniel Torres CHST, STS-C walked their site with a Emlid Reach RS2 – on the same RTK network as their DroneDeploy flight – marking every utility locate before the paint faded. Now it's a permanent layer on their drone map. Shareable with trade partners. Pulled up six months later when demo crews are digging next to an electrical line. Paint fades. This week in Houston, we brought together field engineering teams from across the country for a highly impactful DroneDeploy training. These moments of shared learning are key to advancing how we build and deploy technology at scale. DroneDeploy's April 2026 release is out. Here's what changed: → Interior Explore rebuilt from scratch – panos load in ~1 second, up to 100x faster on large projects. Walk processing is 5x faster, with a path preview ready in 15 minutes. → Terrain Awareness now covers 2,000 acres in a single flight plan. The 200-acre cap is gone. → Aerial Pro accepts processed maps from Pix4D, Propeller, and others – measurements, volumetrics and cut/fill on any dataset. → Multiple BIM models per project, with automatic versioning from Forma (Autodesk Construction Cloud). → Dock missions now resume where they left off after an interruption. Buying a drone is the easy part. What turns it into a drone program is RTK correction and ground control tied to the site survey. That's the difference between a map you can reference and a map you can defend on a slab edge or a stockpile volume.
