The best buyers sit behind Mimecast and catch-alls. Most teams hit them first. I hit them last. Let’s get real: The companies you want the most are the hardest to reach. They use secure email gateways, catch-all domains, and greylisting to keep out cold email. You think you’re sending to a valid inbox-your validator says “all good”-but you’re flying blind. Here’s what happens behind the curtain: - Email gets “accepted” at the gateway - Internal filters decide if you ever hit the inbox - CEO has different rules than the rest of the org - Some employees can’t get external mail at all If your sender reputation is not rock solid, you bounce. If your bounce rate spikes past 5%, you get burned. One bad campaign, and your whole domain is toast. Most teams run straight at these targets on Day 1. They want the whales first. They nuke their own reputation before they even get going. Here’s how I play it instead: - Validate every email with mutli-layer checks (SMTP + account detection) - Flag high-security domains (Mimecast, catch-all, etc.) - Warm up sending infrastructure with easy targets first (those without email security) - Save the hard targets for last, when reputation is stable Stop discarding valuable prospects. More validated emails → More prospects reached → More opportunities → More closed deals. OrbiSearch API now gives you the signal: - Is this domain catch-all? - Does it run a SEG like Mimecast? - How should you sequence your campaign to protect your sender reputation? It’s not about avoiding the hard targets. It’s about hitting them when you’re ready-not before. Curious how this works at scale? Let’s chat.
