There’s nothing out there like a good grilled cheese sandwich. Simple, delicious, and oh-so gooey.

But there’s one place that kicking things up a notch, elevating the humble grilled cheese to its maximum potential. To find it, you’ll have to head into Vancouver to get your hands on some of the most scrumptious sandwiches you’ll ever have.

Dante Italian Sandwich

Dante Italian Sandwich got its start back in November 2024 on Robson Street, although it quickly grew from one location to three. Now, you can also find it on Commercial Drive and in Bentall Centre.

Owned by restauranteur brothers Dom and Frank Morra, Dante Italian Sandwich is all about keeping things authentic. With fresh, high-quality ingredients piled high on house-made schiacciata bread, every bite feels like taking a step down Italy’s rich and historical streets.

Whatever kind of sandwich you’re craving, you’re guaranteed to have at sated at this shop. Try the Italiana, complete with prosciutto crudo, prosciutto cotto, stracciatella cheese, truffle spread, and arugula. Or order the Mortazza, with its mortadella, stracciatella cheese, basil spread, pistachio crumble, and arugula.

And you can’t forget about that legendary grilled cheese sandwich on the menu. If you’re looking for that, you’ll want to be ordering the Formaggi X4, which comes with mozzarella, provolone, stracciatella, and grana padano, as well as some red onion. Four cheeses equals quite an impressive cheese pull.

You can find Dante Italian Sandwich in three locations across Vancouver, as previously mentioned. Head to 1110 Commercial Dr, 360 Robson St, or Suite 501 at Bentall Centre to grab your sandwich today.

Spring is nearly here, so that means Canadians everywhere are planning their upcoming vacations. But before you make any bookings or lock any plans in, it’s good to check the Government of Canada’s travel advisories to stay informed about where you’re travelling to.

Although travel advisories won’t outright bar you from travelling to another country, it is recommended that you follow the advice given by Canada’s Travel Advice and Advisories website page.

Canada Travel Advisories

Travel advisories are split into four different categories. At the bottom, you have “take normal security precautions.” Things begin to heighten as you go up, leading to exercising a high degree of caution, avoiding non-essential travel, and then avoiding all travel.

canada travel advisories

Travellers are always recommended to practice standard caution while in a different country. Although, some destinations are experiencing a number of issues that can make travelling more difficult or dangerous.

Destinations Under A Travel Advisory

  • United Kingdom: Exercise a high degree of caution
    • Terrorist incidents have occurred in public areas, as well as demonstrations that have taken place regularly. Violent and petty crime can happen in certain tourist areas, such as London.
  • Jamaica: Exercise a high degree of caution
    • Violent crime, including armed robbery and murder, continue to be an issue in large cities. Women are also at risk of unwanted attention and should exercise caution when travelling alone.
  • France: Exercise a high degree of caution
    • France has experienced a number of “opportunistic and premeditated” terrorist attacks over the past few years. Petty and violent crimes are also known to happen, with petty criminals often targeting tourists.
  • Italy: Exercise a high degree of caution
    • Petty crime, sexual assault, and spiked drinks have been known to occur in Italy. Tourists are recommended to practice extra caution in regards to their belongings, as well as their foods and drinks.
  • Costa Rica: Exercise a high degree of caution
    • Tourists are often the victim of petty criminals in Costa Rica, including purse snatching and pickpocketing. Thieves also tend to work in teams with one thief diverting a victims’ attention while another snatches their possessions.
  • Mexico: Exercise a high degree of caution (with regional advisories)
    • Due to high levels of violence and organized crime, Mexico has certain areas under a regional, avoid non-essential travel advisory.

To see if your destination is currently under any travel advisories from the Government of Canada, check out the webpage here.

Costco Recall: Crumb Cheddar Chive Scones

The recall concerns The Worthy Crumb brand Cheddar Chive Scones (Item# 2009626). According to a notice sent out on March 16, 2026, the recall is due to a potential presence of mould growth on the product prior to the indicated best before date.

Give and Go Prepared Foods, the product manufacturer, has received three reports of complaints “associated with the consumption of these products. Limited instances of mould have been identified that may cause minor illness if ingested.”

Vancouver has been the host to plenty of amazing events throughout its lifetime. But at the same time, it’s experienced tons of cancellations that have given the city its loving nickname “No Fun City.”

2026 has been no different. It might only be March, but Vancouver has lost a number of huge events already. Here’s what’s been cancelled so far, and cross your fingers that we don’t lose any more.

RELATED: Here’s What Vancouver’s April 2026 Forecast Looks Like

All The Events That Vancouver Has Lost So Far In 2026

Honda Celebration of Light

honda celebration of light
Photo: @celeboflight / Instagram

This is probably the biggest event that Vancouver has lost in 2026. The Honda Celebration of Light was an annual fireworks competition that brought the entire city together to watch some amazing pyrotechnic displays while bracketed by sunsets and beautiful nighttime skylines. Unfortunately, it was announced in November 2025 that the event would be cancelled indefinitely due to funding issues.

According to the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society (VFFS), “it [could] no longer continue to go ‘cap in hand’ each year to keep the event afloat.” Amid rising production costs, the dearth of federal funding, a decrease in provincial support, and a decline in private-sector investment, the event was no longer financially sustainable and sadly had to be cut.

Vancouver Mural Festival

Vancouver Mural Festival
Photo: Vancouver Mural Festival / Facebook

After nine years, the Vancouver Mural Festival announced in January 2025 that it would be officially coming to an end. The festival started back in 2016 and helped to transform the city’s walls into vibrant works of art, adding up to over 400 murals during its runtime. But due to financial challenges over the past few years, the festival decided to close up shop. The decision “was not made lightly” and “despite [their] best efforts, it [was] no longer viable for [them] to continue.”

Dragon Boat Festival

dragon boat festival
Photo: Concord Pacific

This year’s Dragon Boat Festival has been forced into cancellation due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to a statement from Dragon Boat BC, Vancouver’s Host City agreement with the international soccer body bans other sports and cultural events in the city within a specific time period. Moreover, it restricts events around a certain perimeter of BC Place Stadium. Normally, the festival takes place in June, but the timing clashes with the World Cup’s games in Vancouver.

While the Dragon Boat Festival organizers have tried to speak with the city and province to work with them, they’ve reportedly received no support. The festival is slated to return in 2027.

Vancouver International Wine Festival Launch Party

Vancouver International Wine Festival
Photo: Vancouver International Wine Festival/Facebook

While the Vancouver International Wine Festival was still a-go for 2026, it had to cancel its annual Monday night launch party in order to save money. With ticket sales down from sponsors, partners, and the like, they’ve had to scale back on certain festivities. Although, the celebrations still went ahead from March 7 to 14, including its seminars, dinners, and large main tastings.

Hastings Skate Park

Photo: City of Vancouver

While this technically isn’t an event, it’s still something fairly major that Vancouver has lost this year. The Hastings Skate Park is closing for more than two months in the summer because of the 2026 FIFA World Cup festivities. Local skaters have said that this move sidelines athletes during their peak training season. The skate park will be closed from late May until the end of July as preparations for the FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver are underway.

One Vancouver woman is $500,000 richer after 4/4 of her Extra numbers matched on the February 18, 2026 Lotto Max 6/49 draw.

Lok Yan F. couldn’t believe her luck when it happened. “I was relaxing at home and used the [BCLC Lotto!] App,” she said. “I didn’t believe how many zeroes there were. I went to the mall to check on the machine and it said the same!”

The first people that Lok Yan shared the good news with was her colleagues. “They were very happy!” she recalled.

As for what she’s going to do with the money, Lok Yan plans on buying a “forever home.” The winnings will go toward a down payment. On how it feels to win, she said, “I am very, very, happy. I still think this is a dream. I can’t believe it!”

The winning ticket was purchased at a lotto kiosk at Lansdowne Centre in Richmond.

Other B.C. Winners

In the past year, plenty of B.C. residents have won some amazing prizes. In fact, two of them won on the exact same Lotto Max draw, netting them a combined total of $1.5 million.

Another winner comes from Surrey, who found out about his golden ticket while watching a Canucks game. When he first scanned the numbers, his wife said that he had won only $1,000. But upon closer inspection, it turned out to be $1 million.

“In 2025, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $248 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST),” says BCLC.

If you’re feeling lucky, remember to know your limit, play within it before you buy a ticket.
