Quick Update……. Again https://94analog.com/quick-update-again/ Tue, 23 Apr 2024 06:43:42 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=374 I’M NOT DONE I PROMISE.

To do:
– 14 tapes capped and needing tracklists & my witty and charming commentary and whatnot
– 31 tapes to cap
– 7 randos that miiight already be capped and uploaded but I’m not positive because the more organized I try to be, the less organized I am.

I’ll be working on knocking some of these out for the next few days/weeks 😊

I’m also still looking into a better method of sharing my tapes and realized…. why not just use WordPress’ built in music player. Duh. I’m not in love with its design but I think it’s the best we’re gonna get. I just can’t with Youtube anymore.

Tape 47 https://94analog.com/tape-47/ Sun, 25 Sep 2022 19:03:00 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=344

If I’m mathing right, this was recorded November 6 1994. Yay!

It’s always a good sign when a tape starts with Ambiance. I love how they’re pimping separate Anything Box and C+E shows, when years later I’d meet Keith from C+E at multiple Anything Box shows.

  • Pet Shop Boys – Go West
  • Erasure – Chorus (Live) (I’ve always wished the Clarisse twins would return to tour with E. They were sooooo good.)
  • Cause & Effect – You Think You Know Her(why did I cut off It’s Over Now? Bah)
  • Cause & Effect – Soul Search (some of it at least. it would be be my favorite C+E song 7 years later, heh.)
  • Pet Shop Boys – Go West (again….. and recorded off my Very tape? *shrug* which I got for Christmas so I guess I did this at least a couple months after recording the rest of the tape *shrugs again*)
  • Shawn and Jeff – DAMN that’s a high ticket!
  • Chris Isaac – Wicked Game (uh…Kwod?? haha)

Tape 46 https://94analog.com/tape-46/ Sun, 18 Sep 2022 19:01:00 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=342 Some of the live Pet Shop Boys is the same recording from Tape 18. Looks like I made a little compilation here.

Shawn and Jeff parts are May 1995.

  • Pet Shop Boys – Suburbia (Live)
  • Pet Shop Boys – So Hard (Live)
  • Oh my lord, where is this child now. He’s precious! He’d be in his 30s now. Find him, he needs to have this! So adorable. Does he still like Rancid?
  • Pet Shop Boys – It’s A Sin (Live)
  • Pet Shop Boys – Always On My Mind
  • Erasure – Stand by Your Man (Live)
  • Pet Shop Boys – Always On My Mind
  • New Order – 1963
  • Anything Box – Living In Oblivion (if you told 14 year old me that in my late 30s I’d be going out for tacos at 1am with a group of people and musicians that included Claude from ABox I’d have said you were nuts. Good times!)
  • English Boy On The Love Ranch – Sex Vigilante
  • Kon Kan – I Beg your Pardon
  • KMFDM – Power (what the, haha)
  • Shawn and Jeff – Jack Gallagher (with sprinkles of Jake Johannsen)
  • Primus – Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver
  • Shawn and Jeff – Jake’s turn πŸ™‚
  • Live – All Over You (my favorite Live song yay)
  • Nine Inch Nails – Hurt
  • Roxy Music – Avalon (hmm…. not what I’d follow Hurt with but that’s just me hahahaha)

Tape 45 https://94analog.com/tape-45/ Sun, 11 Sep 2022 18:56:00 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=343 Here’s a very very good night at The Alphabet Club πŸ™‚

  • Blur – Girls and Boys
  • English Boy On The Love Ranch – The Man in Your Life
  • Stephen Duffy – Hold It
  • Marc Almond – Tears Run Rings
  • Pet Shop Boys – It’s Alright (I think I remember being so upset they talked over the beginning haha. Watch your volume at the end, it’s about to get loud)
  • Marc Almond – Tears Run Rings (again? sure why not hehe)
  • Erasure – Breath of Life
  • Book Of Love – Modigliani
  • Human League – Heart Like a Wheel (Oh that was a very nice transition there)
  • New Order – True Faith
  • Anything Box – Living In Oblivion
  • Pet Shop Boys – Heart
  • MARRS – Pump Up The Volume
  • Ministry – All Day
  • OMD – Locomotion (that transition should not have worked but it somehow kinda did)
  • Falco – Vienna Calling

  • New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle (really??)

Tape 44 https://94analog.com/tape-44/ Sun, 04 Sep 2022 18:19:00 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=341 We start this one off with Sunday Night Arena, starring Mazzy Star, which is odd because I didn’t really care for them at the time. As I don’t even remember recording this, thus, don’t remember ever hearing Mazzy Star live before, I’m quite taken by how beautiful and good it is. Maybe because I’m older and depressed so I can appreciate it now, haha.

Once again, I captured the sides in the wrong order. The Jesus and Mary Chain’s portion of Sunday Night Arena comes later at 57:35. Oops.

I have noooo clue when the majority of this tape was recorded. A contest ends April 30, Grant Hill Shoes were released in 1995, and one of the Mazzy Star songs was released in October 1996. So your guess is as good as mine πŸ™‚

  • Commercials and Station ID
  • Mazzy Star – Give You My Lovin’ (Live)
  • Mazzy Star – Fade Into You (Live)
  • Commercials (I always thought Jim Koch had the cutest voice. I always pictured him as an animated friendly little gnome.)
  • Call in from Michael Hayes at The Asylum at The Rage, with Did You Miss Me by The Young Gods in the background (?) haha
  • Eurythmics – Love Is A Danger (ah, we’re on The Zone for that one)
  • Mazzy Star – Halah (Live) (maybe I was channel surfing)
  • Shawn and Jeff – Schoolhouse Rock! I was obsessed with these for a while. They should really bring these back. Then some talk about Voyager. I remember when they were extras, and I watched and recorded the episode, not considering that as I’d never seen them before, I had no idea who I was looking for. I rewatched a few times but never did figure out who they were.
  • Commercials – I love how 5 years after the 80s were over there was already an 80s club haha.
  • Shawn and Jeff – “Funny how things we say on air come back to haunt us” *proceeds to do Native impression* (that didn’t age well, haha)
  • Electronic – Disappointed
  • My Life WIth The Thrill Kill Kult – Sex on Wheelz
  • Better Than Ezra – Good (Live on On The Edge)
  • Counting Crows – Einstein On The Beach (aww my favorite Crows song. Why’d I cut it off?)
  • Xymox – Imagination (Siiigh this song reminds me of road trips. Awwwwwwww)
  • Erasure – Crown of Thorns (Oh HEY Andy! Love ya. WHY DID I CUT IT OFF)
  • New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle
  • Shawn and Jeff – Ugh I know I know who he’s talking about. I can’t put my finger on it.
  • Alphaville – Forever Young
  • Bad Boys Blue – Save Your Love (And just like that we’re transported to 97.7 KWIN in 1993. Man, this was my JAM that summer, and I used to dance awkwardly around my room with a full leg cast, using my crutch upside down as a mic (ew), just rocking the hell out to this song. Then you get a split second of Ditty by Paperboy, which was another jam of mine at the time. I was a very ecclectic child. Haha. Taylor Dayne is sneaking through in the background, confirming that this was originally a much older tape than my others, possibly ’91 or ’92, then recorded over. Too bad πŸ™ )
  • I love DJ banter haha
  • The Jesus and Mary Chain – Sidewalking (Live)
  • The Jesus and Mary Chain w/ Hope Sandoval – Sometimes Always
  • The Jesus and Mary Chain – Reverence
  • “Request Magazine’s New Music Minute” – I don’t remember these at all. Mentions of Mary J. Blige, Moby, and Elastica / Justine Frischmann. Kind of an odd little blurb.
  • Mazzy Star – Flowers in December (Live)
  • Mazzy Star – Ride It On (Live)
  • Mazzy Star – Into Dust (Live) (Ugh. I think I’m a Mazzy Star fan now. Only took 30 years. haha)

Quick Update https://94analog.com/quick-update/ Sat, 03 Sep 2022 19:11:15 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=358 I’ve got 4 posts ready to go and they are queued to post each Sunday. I hit a snag for a minute there but I figured it out (you can take the girl out of webmastering but I guess you can’t take the webmastering out of the girl). I will probably increase the frequency when I have more posts drafted πŸ™‚ I am so happy to be back!

If you wanna cheat, you can listen to the four tapes at my Hearthis page – https://hearthis.at/94analog/ (Hi, David X! :D)

Come back Sundays! πŸ™‚

I’m Still Here, Promise :) https://94analog.com/im-still-here-promise/ Thu, 01 Sep 2022 05:43:57 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=331 I can’t believe it’s been more than two years since my last tape. I definitely didn’t intend for my hiatus to last so long, but a very dark depression hit me in July 2020. I’m still working through it, and while I can’t say with honesty that I’m getting better, at least I can say I’m rising above it and finding beauty and joy again.

I struggled to enjoy my hobbies and interests, this blog sadly included. But I always felt so guilty, knowing I had a small but very faithful following who still come around looking for new tapes. I’m sorry I abandoned my project, but I’m so thankful you’ve come back.

I had a few already digitized that needed to be listened to and tracklisted, and I actually just brought the last (?) dozen or so home from my mother’s house last night – tapes that have been buried in a tub of teen mementos, lost in her garage for over 20 years. Should be fun!

Correction…. I appear to have 18 digitized and awaiting tracklisting, 18 chilling here in my closet that I found in storage back in April that I already forgot about and I THINK are awaiting digitization, and another 14 brought from my mom’s garage. 50 tapes. Oh my lord, this blog isn’t even halfway done yet! Hahaha.

(Did these new tapes survive 20+ Pittsburg summers in a garage? They smell kinda funny. I’m nervous.)

Also, there was a critical error here for a while after a server upgrade in July, so I’ve disabled my plugins until I can narrow down the issue. Some tapes using a service other than YouTube might not work yet. Bah.

I need to continue rising above this, and doing these last tapes will take me there. They make me smile πŸ™‚

Hiatus – But I’m Not Done Yet https://94analog.com/hiatus-but-im-not-done-yet/ Mon, 13 Jul 2020 21:54:31 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=308 Hey guys! I’m all out of tapes for now but I do have a few left to do as soon as I get the time. I don’t know when that will be, so check back, or follow my Facebook page to be notified when the posts are published.

In the meantime, any tapes still on Youtube are going to be moved over to HearThis over time, so I can share them complete, as intended. Plus the player is so much more attractive. Haha.

Since they will include songs that Youtube forced me to cut out, the tracklistings may not be complete until I get around to fixing that too.

If you find ANY errors at all (with the player, if the wrong file is on the wrong post, or if an artist or song is listed incorrectly) please let me know.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my tapes so far, and I hope you have a great day πŸ™‚

Tape 43 https://94analog.com/tape-43/ Tue, 26 May 2020 05:31:00 +0000 https://rex.wof.temporary.site/website_0442a406/?p=174 When I would score two favorite songs in a row, that was PEAK GOALS. Peak winning. Especially during a club broadcast, getting them mixed like this. On this tape, I got three in a row. I was probably losing my mind.

  • Modern English – I Melt With You
  • Kon Kan – I Beg Your Pardon
  • Erasure – A Little Respect (2 in a row!)
  • New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle
  • Erasure – A Little Respect (Another 2 in a row! Score!)
  • Peter Schilling – Different Story (3 in a row! Definitely lost my shit at this point – but the tape ran out!)
  • Alphaville – Forever Young
  • Commercial – Kwod 2nd Annual Christmas Concert (FIFTEEN DOLLARS ARE YOU KIDDING ME)
  • Commercial – Cause and Effect live (November 12, so dates this part of the tape to the week of November 6 1994)
  • Commercial – why was there a Nickelodeon commercial? haha
  • Erasure – Sometimes
  • Armageddon Dildos – Everyday Is Like Sunday
