
In order to encourage young scientists of the Alps-Adriatic region to conduct research that is of crucial importance to the region itself, the Alps-Adriatic Rectors’ Conference (AARC) has proudly launched the Alps-Adriatic Scientific Award, with the first Call for Applications in November 2022.
The prizes for outstanding master’s and diploma theses as well as dissertations focusing on topics and issues of the Alps-Adriatic region were awarded on 13 May 2023, within the framework of the AARC Meeting of the General Assembly, honouring two dissertations and two diploma/master’s theses. ]]>Support in cases of hardship is provided by the Student Social Fund, while AAU’s International Office and the Austrian student union (ÖH) provide support in the form of information and assistance.
The registration deadline for the MORE programme in the summer semester 2022 will be extended until 30 April 2022 for refugee students with Ukrainian citizenship.
AAU and ÖH are providing German language courses for incoming students and researchers from Ukraine and psychological help and support is offered by the Psychological Counselling Centre.
AAU’s Welcome Service is offering initial consultations for Ukrainian academics who are in Klagenfurt and help to identify and get in touch with potential hosts. Access to the 24-hour library is granted free of charge.
AAU is also working on establishing support programmes for Ukrainian students and academics.

Organisers would like to invite contributions from scholars active in science communication research, practice, training or education. Graduate students are also encouraged to contribute to a special student session on the conference theme.

]]>Date: 17th-31th July, 2022 – Bovec, Slovenia
The Bovec Summer school attracts every year university students from Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Bulgaria for a multicultural, multilingual two-week course in the little Alpine village of Bovec (also known as Plezzo in Italian and Flitsch in German), located in Slovenia near the Italian and Austrian borders. The aim of the initiative is to promote reciprocal knowledge among university students in the multinational Alps-Adriatic region. Every year courses deal with a different specific topic related to cultural, social, historic issues common to the Alps-Adriatic regions. Courses are held in Italian, Slovenian and German and include language lessons, conferences, seminars, workshops as well as local excursions.
The general topic of the Summer School 2022 is “Geteilte Erinnerung – Erinnerungskulturen”.
