Anchor/Reporter


KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Station in Central California, delivers news coverage across television, digital, social, and streaming platforms. The team is committed to impactful storytelling, breaking news, and community engagement.

Job Summary:
We're looking for an outstanding Anchor/Reporter who thrives in fast-paced breaking news environments - both at the desk and out in the field. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter and a true team player, able to collaborate with colleagues across the newsroom to deliver compelling stories on every platform.

Key qualities we value:

  • Active engagement with social media for both news gathering and audience promotion.
  • Proven ability to connect viewers across linear and digital channels.
  • Creativity and visual storytelling skills, whether reporting live, producing long-form features, or working solo or with a photographer.
  • Strong network-building skills and a proven record of developing great contacts and sources, and a history of impactful, memorable journalism.
  • Flexibility - comfortable shooting and editing their own investigative stories, conducting sit-down interviews with elected officials, or working with a photographer to report out in the field on the big story of the day as it unfolds.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • On-Air & Field Reporting: Handle breaking news live on-air (studio & field) without a script, deliver compelling stories/interviews, fill in for other anchors as needed.
  • Content Creation & Collaboration: Pitch and develop well-vetted enterprise story ideas; collaborate with producers/managers; create unique/shareable content for TV, digital, social, and streaming. Contribute exceptional reporting, writing and interviewing skills.
  • Collaborate with producers and managers before, during and after shows. Actively use social media for news gathering/promotion
  • Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships, develop strong contacts, participate in community/station events

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of anchoring and reporting experience
  • Excellent writing skills, solid news judgment, and ethical decision-making
  • Ability to present active and engaging live shots
  • Work well under deadline pressure
  • Schedule flexibility and ability to work holidays
  • Ability to shoot and edit content as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top 60 market experience
  • Knowledge of Central California
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish
  • Ability to shoot and edit content as needed
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and/or Dalet One-Cut

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

The hiring range for this SAG-AFTRA role in Fresno, California is $100,000 to $160,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered. General Assignment Reporter


KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Television station in Central California, is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to join our top-rated news team. We want someone who thrives on breaking news and excels at telling accurate, balanced, and engaging stories. The ideal candidate will report for the station's newscasts and digital platforms, all while keeping the audience updated along the way on social media. Our reporters are expected to turn creative and memorable stories, often fronting them with active live shots. The ideal candidate innovates, pitches strong stories, and is willing to experiment with new technology. This person must be organized, flexible, and work well under pressure and constant deadlines. We want someone who is naturally curious, receptive to feedback, and brings a positive attitude every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, set up interviews, and write content daily.
  • Collaborate with photojournalists, producers, assignment editors, and managers to execute story assignments.
  • Effectively deliver breaking news live on-air, without a script.
  • Shoot and edit stories as needed.
  • Fill-in anchor as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of reporting experience preferred.
  • Candidates with demonstrated storytelling and journalism skills will also be considered.
    Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Central Valley
  • Bilingual skills
  • Success creating engaging vertical videos for social media

Required Education:

  • College degree.

The base salary for this position in Fresno, CA is $60,000 to $70,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
