The Youth Red Cross (YRC) cell, in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, NUCSER, organized a blood donation camp on 3rd March 2026 at the institute premises. A total of 77 volunteers donated blood. 84 units of blood were collected. The donors were presented with certificates by the NU Blood Centre as a token of appreciation for their acts of kindness.

News from NUCSER | NUCHROME 2026
Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER) successfully organized the second edition of its flagship one-day intercollegiate cultural fest, NUCHROME ’26 - Hues of Youth, on 14th March 2026 at the Paneer Campus Ground. The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from 27 teams, with over 400 participants competing across 14 diverse events, reflecting a vibrant blend of talent, creativity and competitive spirit.
Prof. (Dr) MS Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU presided over the function and Mr. Shaneel Gautham, Screenwriter & Actor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. NUCHROME ’26 featured a unique blend of culture and science, wherein scientific terminologies were creatively incorporated into the names of the events, adding a distinctive identity to the fest. The competitions included classical & folk dance, debate, street play, variety entertainment, ramp walk, face painting, murder mystery, canvas art and other engaging activities, providing a comprehensive platform for artistic and intellectual expression. The event also featured vibrant stalls and witnessed active audience engagement.
The fest concluded with the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony, which was presided over by Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Prakhyath Shetty Alike as the Chief Guest and Prof. (Dr) Indrani Karunasagar as the Guest of Honour.
The Overall Championship was bagged by Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO), while Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, Puttur emerged as the Runner-Up.

South zone interuniversity chess tournament
The Men’s Chess Team of Nitte University secured an impressive 14th place among the 78 participating teams at the AIU South Zone Inter-University Chess Tournament, held at Bishop Heber College, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu from 2nd to 5th March 2026.
All the team members delivered commendable performances throughout the tournament. Mr. Dhanush Ram of 1st MBBS was awarded the Best Player on Board No. 3 for his outstanding performance.
News from NICO | Workshop on Indian Knowledge System and Media Leadership
Nitte Institute of Communication, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), conducted a workshop titled "How do we build resilient media leadership for disruptive times? Applying nuggets of wisdom from the 'Desi' model" on 14th March 2026 at the Staff Development Centre Seminar Hall.
The workshop was facilitated by Prof. (Dr) Sudhir Raj K, Director, Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems at Nitte University. In his presentation, Prof. Sudhir emphasized the relevance of ancient Indian knowledge, citing
scriptures from the Bhagavad Gita. He highlighted that the Gita teaches essential values such as
humility, modesty and a pro-people approach.
Dr. Nesara Kadanakuppe, Convener, Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC), Nitte DU, coordinated the event.
Dr. Moulya B, Head, Nitte Institute of Communication, introduced the resource person. The workshop was attended by students, faculty members and research scholars of the institute.

News from NUINS | Celebration of International Women’s Day and National Science Day 2026
Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences celebrated International Women’s Day and National Science Day 2026 on 7th March 2026 at the NUINS Learning Centre, Paneer campus. The event was organized by the Student Innovation Club (SIC), NUINS, in collaboration with the Gender Sensitization Cell of Nitte University. The program aimed to celebrate the contributions of women in nursing & healthcare and to promote scientific thinking and research among faculty and students.
A total of 42 faculty members and 4 MSc students participated in the event. The program was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Indrani Karunasagar, Director (Projects & NuTEC), and was presided over by Dr. Suma Ballal, Dy Registrar, Nitte DU. The welcome address was delivered by Ms Supreetha Mendon, followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest in recognition of her contributions to science and research. Faculty members who published research papers in Q2 Scopus-indexed journals were recognised and appreciated.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Sukesh Shetty, Member, Gender Sensitization Cell, Nitte University.
News from NRAMP | A talk on “Self Awareness: The Key of a Healthy Mind”
The Technical Club of NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte, organized a session on “Self Awareness: The Key of a Healthy Mind” on 18th March 2026. The session delivered by Dr. Ajith Hebbale, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte focused on practical aspects such as maintaining good health, practicing meditation and simple daily exercises. He explained how these habits help improve concentration, reduce stress and enhance productivity, which are essential for technical students. The session helped students evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
News from NRAMP | Red Cross Activities: A talk on “First Aid and Safety Training”
The Red Cross Unit of NRAMP Polytechnic, Nitte, organized a “First Aid and Safety Training” program on 18th March 2026 with the objective of equipping students with essential life-saving skills and safety awareness. The program aimed to prepare students to respond effectively during emergencies and instill a sense of responsibility towards community well-being.
The resource person, JFA Vignesh Prasad from JCI India, Udupi explained various first aid techniques and safety measures to be followed during emergencies with live demonstrations. Students actively participated in the training and observed demonstrations on handling injuries, performing CPR, managing unconscious victims, and providing immediate care before professional medical help arrives.
News from KSHEMA | 3rd Care of Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) Instructor Course
The 3rd Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patients (CCrISP) Instructor Course was successfully conducted on 24th & 25th February 2026 at NUMEDISIM, by the Dept. of General Surgery, KSHEMA, in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The course focused on strengthening the instructional skills and enhancing effective delivery of CCrISP content.
A total of 11 participants from across South India attended the course, including 9 in-house and 2 external candidates. All participants completed the course, achieving a 100% pass rate, with highly positive feedback regarding the training experience.
The program was led by distinguished faculty from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, along with experienced in-house faculty at KSHEMA. All participants and faculty were awarded with Completion Certificates from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
