I don't know what happened exactly.

I was just minding my business and went to check on it. It had crashed for some reason, the postgresql server/docker/thing was erroring out like a lot.

Then I decided to fix that issue in the random file that broke it. I have no idea why it does that but whatever: https://codeberg.org/akselmo/scaliecomputer/commit/57252f9cd0dceb84df089e39f89f48e1190db4a9

I then ran
mix ecto.setup
as the guide says here: https://docs.linkhut.org/installation.html

I have had to do that before. Then I restarted the server.

And boom. Gone. All our links, gone. :(

I got the links back from a friend, since there wasn't many yet and added them back.

I am still open for inviting people here but I can't promise the app still works fine.

Now sure, I probably did something wrong but...

Data should never be deleted like that???!

Write my own maybe?

If it breaks again (or I get super bored), I'll just write my own thing:

Users can only send links

Links need a title

Links need tags

Links can have notes

Links can be liked

Frontpage is just stream of links

There is popular links tab

Use sqlite as database because fuck anything more complicated

Same link cant be posted twice

Avoid JS like the plague it is (cant promise complete no-js but anyway)

Likely will use flask for it, since I actually know how to work with Python (usually).

Ugh, anyway, that's why things are weird if you use the site. Thanks for sticking with me. I'm better with native apps, this web stuff is scary.

And yeah you'll need to create an account again, sorry..

Leave me behind Sun, 22 Feb 2026 18:35:06 +0000 Akseli ai rant ramble https://akselmo.dev/notes/leave-me-behind/ https://akselmo.dev/notes/leave-me-behind/

If you wont use this new VC funded hypetech, such as generative "AI" you will be left behind!

Is that a promise?

Please! Feel free to ignore.

I keep finding tech industry more and more dissapointing and annoying and harmful. Every year it gets more and more frustrating to read what new way of siphoning money and mental health has been invented. And we just allow it to happen.

I should be surprised by articles like this: https://www.osnews.com/story/144340/unsealed-court-documents-show-teen-addiction-was-big-techs-top-priority/

But I am not. I just go "yeah expected."

That's fucked up. That's so *fucking fucked up.*

I am lucky to be allowed to touch computers for good as a dayjob, since I do believe working on KDE software benefits humans.

But if I had to go back to the regular tech industry grind.. I don't know man.

I am scared of that.

Added emotes Mon, 02 Feb 2026 21:12:06 +0000 Akseli emotes fursona scalie https://akselmo.dev/notes/added-emotes/ https://akselmo.dev/notes/added-emotes/
I added simple emotions here now, like many people have them in their blog.

I have not yet styled them much, but here's some of them:

Hi I'm smiling!

lololol

Told you so!

oh what the fuck

And so on. Should allow me to make some fun lil faces between paragraphs.

todo2ical script Fri, 30 Jan 2026 00:42:20 +0000 Akseli python todotxt ical https://akselmo.dev/notes/todo2ical/ https://akselmo.dev/notes/todo2ical/
I made a simple todo2ical script that converts todo.txt file into an ical file.

It's not much really. I just wanted some nice way to get notifications for my due tasks without separate apps.

You can add the files it produces as read-only external calendars to your calendar thing.

Here's link to the source code: https://codeberg.org/akselmo/todo2ical

I just have it to spit out a file to a random endpoint in my server and then just use that in my calendar apps.

I gotta admit, I'm tempted to go back to regular caldav tasks at times.. But I really like the workflow of Komodo and I would feel bad for not using it anymore.

Hello from my notes! Sun, 25 Jan 2026 18:01:31 +0000 Akseli notes indieweb https://akselmo.dev/notes/hello-from-notes/ https://akselmo.dev/notes/hello-from-notes/
Hello there, I have now made a note system for my blog.

I will use these notes pages for more shortform posts. They will be more random, thoughts about things I find interesting.

Sometimes they can be just photos of our lizards too, or something else.

I wanted to have somekind of place where I can just ramble without worrying about "spamming" my blog, which is for more in-depth texts. But I did not want to all these thoughts go on Fediverse and just disappear into the ether either. Instead, things I want to keep around for longer time will appear here!

The main RSS feed shows these too, but theres also specific URLs for the blog and notes feeds:

Blog: https://akselmo.dev/posts/feed.xml

Notes: https://akselmo.dev/notes/feed.xml

But yeah let's see how long I feel like doing this lol.

Also added input field to send webmentions to my site, will have to see if it even works.
