RailWorks Corporation processed 7,188,000 labor hours through ALMobile during 2025, earning the company the 7 Million Labor Hours Award at the 2026 ALMobile Users Conference in Denton, Texas. The milestone marks one of the largest single-year hour totals recorded on the platform and underscores how deeply ALMobile has become embedded in the daily operations of one of the construction industry’s most specialized contractors.

A Different Kind of Contractor

RailWorks is not a typical construction company. Headquartered in New York, the company is the largest firm in North America focused exclusively on rail infrastructure construction and maintenance. Its crews build and maintain the track, electrical systems, signals, and communications networks that keep freight railroads, public transit systems, and industrial rail operations running across the United States and Canada.

The company’s roots trace back to 1904, when Louis K. Comstock founded L.K. Comstock & Company in New York City. That firm grew into one of the most respected electrical and transit construction companies in the country, contributing to projects ranging from the Empire State Building to the New York City Transit Authority. In 1998, L.K. Comstock joined with 13 other rail construction companies to form RailWorks Corporation. Today, the company operates through several trusted brands, including L.K. Comstock, PNR RailWorks, and NARSTCO, and holds Platinum status from the National Railroad Construction & Maintenance Association.

7.1 Million Hours on Live Rail

What makes RailWorks’ milestone particularly notable is the environment in which those hours were logged. Rail construction and maintenance often takes place alongside active train operations, in transit corridors where safety protocols are rigorous and schedules are unforgiving. Crews work across geographically dispersed jobsites, from dense urban transit networks to remote freight lines, frequently under conditions where internet connectivity is limited or unavailable.

Tracking labor accurately in that kind of environment is a challenge that goes well beyond convenience. For a company managing thousands of field personnel across hundreds of active projects, the ability to capture time data reliably, with or without a network connection, is directly tied to payroll accuracy, project cost control, and regulatory compliance.

Why It Works in the Field

ALMobile was built for exactly these conditions. The platform operates as a progressive web app that runs on any device and any operating system without requiring an app installation. Critically, it captures and stores data offline, syncing automatically when connectivity returns. For rail crews working in tunnels, rural corridors, or active right-of-way zones, that offline capability is not a bonus feature. It is the reason the system works at all.

The platform integrates with a wide range of ERP systems, allowing time data captured in the field to flow directly into payroll and project management systems in the back office. For an organization like RailWorks, which operates through multiple subsidiary brands and across two countries, that integration eliminates manual handoffs and reduces the errors that come with them.

RailWorks’ 7.1 million hours were part of a much larger wave of adoption across the construction industry. In 2025, ALMobile’s client base collectively captured over 72 million labor hours across more than 125,000 employees, a figure that continues to grow as more contractors move away from paper-based tracking.

ALMobile Version 13 and the 2026 Users Conference

The award was presented during the 2026 ALMobile Users Conference, a two-day event that brought together customers, partners, and industry professionals for training sessions, product demonstrations, and roundtable discussions. The conference also served as the launch event for ALMobile Version 13, which features a redesigned interface, streamlined license management, and new API and Single Sign-On capabilities.

Looking Ahead

As federal infrastructure investment continues to drive demand for rail construction and maintenance across North America, the volume of labor being deployed on rail projects is only going to increase. RailWorks’ milestone is a clear demonstration that large-scale specialty contractors can adopt digital workforce management tools and see real results. The ALMobile team congratulates RailWorks on this achievement and looks forward to continuing the partnership as both companies build on what comes next.

McCarthy Receives the 7 Million Man-Hours Award at the 2026 ALMobile User Conference https://almobile.com/mccarthy-receives-the-7-million-man-hours-award-at-the-2026-almobile-user-conference/ Fri, 06 Mar 2026 22:33:29 +0000 https://almobile.com/?p=4195 Recognized at the 2026 ALMobile Users Conference in Denton, Texas

McCarthy Building Companies recorded more than seven million labor hours through ALMobile during 2025, a milestone that earned the company the 7 Million Labor Hours Award at the 2026 ALMobile Users Conference in Denton, Texas. The achievement places McCarthy among the platform’s highest-volume users and reflects the company’s sustained commitment to digital workforce management across its national portfolio of projects.

Founded in 1864, McCarthy is the oldest privately held national construction company in the United States. The firm employs more than 8,000 salaried employees and craft professionals across offices in over a dozen cities, and it is ranked the 15th largest domestic builder by Engineering News-Record. McCarthy is also 100% employee-owned, a structure that reinforces accountability across every level of the organization. With that scale of operations, tracking labor hours accurately and consistently is not a minor administrative task. It is foundational to how the company manages project delivery, controls costs, and supports its workforce.

Putting Seven Million Hours in Context

Seven million hours of tracked labor is roughly equivalent to 3,365 full-time employees working every business day for an entire year. For McCarthy, that volume spans complex construction environments, from healthcare facilities and research buildings to airports and water treatment plants, across multiple regions of the country. Every one of those hours was captured by field teams using ALMobile on jobsites, flowing in real time to project managers and back-office systems.

Austin Lane has been a core tool for us as our enterprise time tracking platform. It empowers us by helping us accurately account for project costs as well making sure we are paying people promptly and fairly for their work. It also helps alleviate a ton of risk in helping us make sure that we are compliant with all labor laws in every area of the country we work in. Michael David – Business Systems Analyst

Built for the Jobsite

Construction is not an office environment. Field teams work in conditions where connectivity is unreliable, schedules shift daily, and the people entering data have more pressing concerns than navigating complicated software. ALMobile was designed around those realities. The platform runs as a progressive web app across any device and operating system, captures data with or without an internet connection, and integrates with major ERP systems, including Oracle, Viewpoint, Sage, CMiC, and others. Foremen and superintendents can enter and review time data in the field with minimal friction, and that data syncs directly to payroll and project management systems in the back office.

McCarthy’s seven-million-hour milestone is one data point within a much larger picture. In 2025 alone, ALMobile’s client base collectively captured over 72 million labor hours across more than 125,000 construction employees. That kind of adoption across the construction industry speaks to a broader shift: companies are moving away from paper timesheets and manual processes toward systems that give them real-time visibility into how labor is being deployed.

Introducing ALMobile Version 13

The conference also served as the launch event for ALMobile Version 13, the latest release of the platform. Version 13 features a refreshed interface that streamlines license management, user assignment, and status monitoring. The update also introduces API and Single Sign-On capabilities, giving field teams another reason to consolidate their workflows into a single tool. These improvements build on the platform’s core strength: keeping the experience simple for the people who use it every day, while giving managers and administrators the data depth they need to make informed decisions.

The 2026 Users Conference

The 2026 ALMobile Users Conference brought together customers, partners, and industry professionals in Denton, Texas, for two days of training sessions, roundtable discussions, and product demonstrations. The event ran alongside the Austin Lane IT Services ALIT Secured 2026 conference, giving attendees exposure to both field technology and broader IT strategy. McCarthy was one of several companies recognized during the event for their achievements on the platform.

What’s Next

As construction projects grow in scale and complexity, the demands on workforce management tools grow with them. McCarthy’s milestone is a strong signal that large, sophisticated builders see real value in the kind of visibility ALMobile provides. With Version 13 coming soon and continued investment in the platform’s capabilities, the ALMobile team looks forward to supporting McCarthy and its broader client base as they push toward what comes next.

Why Electrical Contractors Are Rethinking Field Data at NECA 2025 https://almobile.com/why-electrical-contractors-are-rethinking-field-data-at-neca-2025/ https://almobile.com/why-electrical-contractors-are-rethinking-field-data-at-neca-2025/#respond Wed, 27 Aug 2025 14:34:31 +0000 https://almobile.com/?p=3694 Are field tools helping us stay on budget, or just telling us we’re over it?

In an industry driven by deadlines, cost codes, and tight labor availability, electrical contractors know that even the smallest jobsite inefficiency can cause a ripple effect across payroll, productivity, and profitability. As NECA 2025 approaches, there’s one question every contractor should be asking: Are our field tools helping us stay on budget—or just telling us we’re over it?

The Real Problem Isn’t Just the Field. It’s the Disconnect

Most project managers and foremen are still juggling a patchwork of systems: timecards in one app, units tracked in another, production logged on paper, and job costing left to the back office.

This fragmented approach leads to:

  • ⏳ Delays in getting actionable data
  • 💸 Re-cut checks and costly payroll corrections
  • 🧱 Field crews that avoid using clunky, disconnected tools
  • 🔌 Missed integration opportunities with ERP and payroll platforms

The ALMobile Approach: Built for the Realities of Electrical Contracting

At Austin Lane Technologies, we’ve spent 25 years building and refining a platform that’s trusted by ENR Top 400 contractors and NECA member companies alike.

Our ALMobile platform gives electrical contractors:

💠 Real-time field data on time, production, and equipment
💠 Integrated reporting at the cost code and unit level
💠 Field-friendly apps your crews will actually use
💠 Seamless connections with ERPs like Viewpoint, CMiC, Acumatica, Sage, and eCMS
💠 Audit-ready compliance with SOC 2 Type II, MFA, and SSO

When time and labor are scarce, efficiency becomes your edge. ALMobile is the edge.

See It Live at NECA 2025 – Booth #3829

If you’re heading to NECA 2025 in Chicago (Sept 12–15), visit us at Booth #3829. We’ll show you how electrical contractors across North America are gaining better visibility, eliminating payroll chaos, and delivering more accurate job costing, right from the field!

Boosting Jobsite Productivity: What We Heard at CFMA 2025 https://almobile.com/boosting-jobsite-productivity-what-we-heard-at-cfma-2025/ https://almobile.com/boosting-jobsite-productivity-what-we-heard-at-cfma-2025/#respond Mon, 02 Jun 2025 15:22:02 +0000 https://almobile.com/?p=3565 At this year’s CFMA Annual Conference, one thing came through loud and clear: construction finance professionals are looking for better ways to track productivity and manage performance in real time.

In our conversations at the ALMobile booth, we heard recurring themes: companies want field data that’s accurate, timely, and actionable. They want to stop learning they’re over budget after the fact and start using data to stay ahead of the curve.

That’s exactly why we built ALMobile’s Production Tracking module. And for over 25 years, we’ve been perfecting it.

✔ Track completed units, equipment use, and crew time, directly from the field
✔ Compare actual vs. budgeted hours and units in real time
✔ Log daily activity, RFIs, issues, weather, and more
✔ Generate detailed, cost code–level reports for smarter decision-making

This isn’t an afterthought add-on. ALMobile was one of the first platforms in the industry to offer built-in production tracking — because we’ve always believed smarter payroll and job costing start at the jobsite.

Austin Lane Technologies Achieves SOC 2 Type II Compliance https://almobile.com/austin-lane-technologies-achieves-soc-2-type-ii-compliance/ https://almobile.com/austin-lane-technologies-achieves-soc-2-type-ii-compliance/#respond Mon, 31 Mar 2025 20:17:32 +0000 https://almobile.com/?p=3532 Press Release: Austin Lane Technologies, a leading provider of mobile enterprise solutions for the construction industry and a trusted managed IT service provider, announced the successful completion of the SOC 2 Type II audit.

Denton, TX — 3/31/2025— Austin Lane Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of mobile enterprise solutions for the construction/energy industries and a trusted managed IT service provider, proudly announces its successful completion of the SOC 2 Type II audit, achieving full compliance with the most respected standard for data security, availability, and confidentiality.

This milestone follows the company’s SOC 2 Type I achievement last year and represents a significant step forward in Austin Lane’s continued efforts to maintain the highest level of trust and assurance for its clients.

What is SOC 2 Type II?

Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 framework is a recognized benchmark for assessing a service provider’s systems and controls related to data protection. While SOC 2 Type I evaluates the design of controls at a specific point in time, SOC 2 Type II goes further by assessing how those controls perform over a sustained period, typically several months.

This level of compliance demonstrates that Austin Lane has well-designed security protocols in place and consistently and effectively implements these controls in day-to-day operations.

What It Means for Clients

For current and prospective clients, particularly those in construction and other data-sensitive industries, this certification provides strong assurance that Austin Lane can be trusted to protect sensitive information, mitigate risk, and uphold rigorous standards around system reliability. Whether managing payroll data, time tracking, productivity tracking, or other critical field operations, clients can rely on ALMobile and other Austin Lane solutions to secure their data. For Austin Lane’s Managed IT Services clients, SOC 2 Type II compliance provides a high level of assurance that customer data is protected and handled with the utmost security and care.

“At Austin Lane, we take data protection seriously. This compliance underscores our dedication to providing secure, reliable, and trusted solutions to our clients,” said Austin Beaty, CEO of Austin Lane Technologies. “Clients can be confident that an independent third-party auditor validates our security practices, policies, and procedures to meet stringent standards. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and relentless focus on protecting what matters most—our customers and their data.”

As cybersecurity threats continue to grow across all sectors, Austin Lane’s SOC 2 Type II compliance offers peace of mind and a competitive edge for organizations seeking secure, enterprise-grade mobile workforce solutions.
