Using AMV Tracker

Hello! If this is your first time using AMV Tracker, or if you’re just confused about how any part of it works, you’re in the right place. You’ll find here an explanation of how each part of this program works, from entering videos to searching your database to anything else you need to know. Although I designed AMV Tracker to be as self-explanatory as possible, it has a lot of different functions and it may take a little getting used to. Not to worry! Let’s start with a look at the main window, which is the first thing you’ll see after startup:

(NOTE: Upon your first time opening AMV Tracker, you’ll be prompted to choose a database. If you want to start from scratch, choose “My_AMV_Database.xls”. If you want to view or add to the database that I have been compiling over many years, select “AMV_Genome_Project.xls” instead.)

As you can see, from this window you can access all sorts of different functions contained within AMV Tracker. In the order listed, these are:

(1) Video entry: You’ll find three different ways you can enter videos into your database.

(2) Search the Database: This is where you will go to access all sorts of different search options for locating specific videos, or specific types of videos, within your database.

(3) Custom Lists: Custom Lists are simply groupings of videos that you create — for example, your favorite romance videos, or the best old-school videos in your database. Use Custom Lists to quickly store and group videos together that you might want to easily access later for whatever reason.

(4) DB Statistics: Clicking this will bring you to another window which will allow you to choose how to visualize the data contained within your database in a myriad of ways. PLEASE NOTE: This option works best if you are including as much detailed information as you can when you enter your videos.

(5) DB Management: Here you’ll find a number of different options for managing your data and making mass changes to it. You may never need to make use of anything you find here, but it is available for those who want tighter control over their data.

(6) AMV Notepad: A tool you can use to keep track of any ideas you have for editing your own AMVs.

Please click any of the links above to be shown a detailed walkthrough for each of these different functions.
