Eligibility

Must sign up through EventBrite registration.  This hackathon is now full, we are no longer accepting registrations.

Requirements

App descriptions are due in DevPost at 5pm.  These should include:

  • Description of what the app does and how it relates to the theme (Build an app that solves a problem associated with a real world financial event.)
  • Link to public Github repository with the app code
  • Screenshots/Video of app
  • Team members names and emails

Check out the sample submission under the "Submissions" tab to get an idea what yours should look like!

Code lock is 6:00pm.  All projects are due in a public GitHub repo at this time.  Link to this repo should be included in the DevPost submission.

First Place - 1
1 winner

The team that is awarded First Place will be the team that submits the application that receives the most votes during the judging period.

First Place prize will be distributed in the form of Amazon digital gift cards, totaling a value of $2000 to be split evenly amongst the team members.

Due to a tie for 1st place, these two teams will split the 1st and 2nd place prizes.

The team that is awarded Second Place will be the team that submits the application that receives the second most votes during the judging period.

Second Place prize will be distributed in the form of Amazon digital gift cards, totaling a value of $1200 to be split evenly amongst the team members.

Due to a tie for 1st place, these two teams will split the 1st and 2nd place prizes.

Third Place
3 winners

The team that is awarded Third Place will be the team that submits the application that receives the third most votes during the judging period.

Third Place prize will be distributed in the form of Amazon digital gift cards, totaling a value of $800 to be split evenly amongst the team members.

Due to a 3-way tie for 3rd place, the 3 teams that tied will split the 3rd place prize.

Hackathon Theme!

Build an app that solves a problem associated with a real world financial event.

Some examples that we had in mind:

  • Brexit
  • Rio Olympics & World Cup
  • Greek Debt Crisis
  • The Housing Bubble Crash
  • Major Traffic and Road expansion projects (think Boston’s the “Big Dig”)
  • Tracking Terrorist Funding
