Apollo GraphQL Challenge #1 - Build a GraphQL server on top of a REST API
1st Prize: $500
Contact @watson in Discord channel #api-world-2023-hackathon - Join link: https://discord.gg/pv69zpPmgT
Build and create a GraphQL API using a REST API of your choice. The GraphQL API must be created with a GraphQL technology of your choice and can be written with any language. Bonus points for using a GraphQL server library. This challenge will be judged on schema design, performance, and the scale of the API. You could even use the SignalWire REST API (https://developer.signalwire.com/)!
There is a good example (https://github.com/apollographql/spotify-showcase/tree/main/subgraphs/spotify) of exposing the Spotify REST API with Apollo Server using TypeScript. You can reference this example as you build, but the Spotify REST API cannot be used as a submission for this challenge.
There are multiple GraphQL resources you can use:
- https://graphql.com/ai ← this can be used to generate the starting point from a OpenAPI definition

Apollo GraphQL Challenge #2 - Build any GraphQL API
1st Place: $500
Contact @watson in Discord channel #api-world-2023-hackathon - Join link: https://discord.gg/pv69zpPmgT
Build and create a GraphQL API using any datasources of your choice (like Postgres, Mongo, Redis etc.). The GraphQL API must be created with a GraphQL server library of your choice and can be written with any language. This challenge will be judged on schema design, performance and the variety of datasources.
REST APIs will not be considered when judging this challenge. You can still use a REST API, but it must be combined with other datasources to be considered for this challenge. If you only have a REST API as a datasource, your submission will be considered for challenge #1.
