Vocational Education and Training (VET) is becoming increasingly popular within the, as almost half of all upper secondary school pupils follow vocational programmes. At the same time, the jobs of tomorrow demand skills that will correspond to the requirements of the green and digital transitions, which subsequently require significant investments in upskilling and re- skilling of professionals.

The METAMORPHA concept is a single agile USP (ultrashort pulse) laser micromachining platform to replace many conventional manufacturing process chains. It has the potential to eliminate thousands of environmentally damaging production processes. METAMORPHA is all-electric, all-digital, produces no waste chemicals and enables novel processes for product rework and repair.

The AQUABIOPRO-FIT main objective is to promote efficient utilisation of European aquaculture, fisheries and agriculture side streams in feeds and nutritional supplement products promoting fitness and health.

To this end, we will develop side stream biomass processing technologies to up-concentrate nutrients and bioactives maintaining product quality and minimising waste. The safety, bioactivity and acceptance of the developed ingredients and products will be documented through cell, animal, taste panel and intervention studies with humans, namely athletes and patient groups.

FIC-FIGHTERS is an EU-funded initiative aimed at creating sustainable economic models to manage waste that threatens our natural and cultural heritage. This project fosters dialogue on innovative solutions for long-standing waste accumulation issues near urban areas.

By engaging local actors, industries, authorities, SMEs, research centers, and universities, we aim to scale up waste recovery processes to Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6-7 under the principles of the circular economy.

SEQUOIA is a Horizon Europe project to research the development of optical coherence tomography (OCT) using quantum techniques. OCT is a key imaging technology, allowing non-contact high resolution 3D imaging which has been successfully used for decades in fields from medicine to industrial testing.

SEQUOIA aims to deliver an ultra-high resolution QOCT system, protected from noise by artificial intelligence based OAM control and explore its potential for a vital real-world application: retinal imaging.
