The marketing narrative for 2025/2026 is seductive: models offer context windows of 1 million to 10 million tokens. The implication is that you can simply “paste your entire codebase” into the prompt and the AI will reason perfectly across it.

 

The Reality

This is operationally false and financially dangerous. Current research identifies a phenomenon known as Context Rot: Large Language Models (LLMs) do not process information uniformly. A model’s ability to reason degrades as the input length grows, meaning the 10,000th token is treated with significantly less fidelity than the 100th.

“Naive” long-context usage, dumping all files into the window, burns tokens at a massive rate while degrading output quality. Agents tend to prioritize Recall (grabbing every file that might be relevant) over Precision, introducing vast amounts of “noise” that actively confuses the model. You are essentially paying more to make your AI dumber.

 

Cascading Failures in Multi-Step Reasoning Agents attempting to solve problems through multi-turn conversations (reasoning depth) are highly vulnerable. Context Rot causes early, minor errors to propagate and compound—a phenomenon known as “Agentic Cascading.”

 

The Lower Seniority Accountability Gap

Before looking at the machines, we must look at the humans. As AI tools lower the barrier to entry for coding, many organizations are leaning heavily on lower seniority talent to drive development.

The risk is clear: lower seniority engineers often lack the accountability and deep architectural experience required to evaluate the code an AI generates. When an AI produces a functional-looking snippet that actually introduces subtle security flaws or architectural “blue” (technical debt), a lower seniority developer may not see the warning signs. Without the correct project structure and the “atomization” of components, AI doesn’t just accelerate work; it accelerates the accumulation of unmanageable complexity.

 

The “Brownfield” Problem

Most business codebases are “Brownfield” environments: a chaotic mix of legacy human code and newer AI boilerplate. Human developers rely on implicit knowledge, while AI agents rely on explicit matching.

When your codebase is a monolith with vague naming conventions, AI agents suffer from an Information-Architecture Gap. They might find the buggy file but fail to fix it because the surrounding 100,000 lines of irrelevant code create a “utilization gap.”

 

The Strategic Solution: Architectural Isolation

Since you cannot “prompt” your way out of Context Rot, the only performant strategy is a human one: Architectural Isolation.

The future of AI-accelerated development isn’t about building “smarter” agents that can read 10 million lines of code. It is about human architects refactoring systems so that an agent—and the junior developers using them—never need to see more than 10 files to solve a problem.

 

Root cause: What is Context Rot?

Context Rot describes the phenomenon where a Large Language Model’s (LLM) performance degrades significantly and unpredictably as the length of its input (context) increases. While modern models boast “million-token” windows, they do not process this information uniformly.

The assumption that a model handles the 10,000th token with the same fidelity as the 100th is false. As the context grows, the model’s ability to reason, retrieve, and follow instructions deteriorates, leading to a state where the “usable capacity” of the model is far lower than its nominal context window.

Key characteristics of Context Rot include:

1.Non-Uniform Processing: Performance drops are not linear. Models may handle short contexts perfectly but fail to retrieve information or follow instructions once the input crosses a certain threshold (e.g., 20k tokens), even if the “answer” is present in the text.

2.Sensitivity to “Distractors”: Rot is often triggered by “distractors”, irrelevant content that is semantically similar to the target information. As context length grows, the model becomes increasingly unable to distinguish between the correct data (the needle) and these distractors, leading to hallucinations.

3.The “Needle” Fallacy: Models often score highly on simple “Needle in a Haystack” (NIAH) benchmarks, which test finding a specific keyword (lexical retrieval). However, Context Rot becomes severe in real-world tasks that require semantic understanding (connecting logic across disconnected files) or identifying the absence of information.

The “Deep” vs. “Wide” Problem

Experiments show that models are actually more robust to a single noisy context (“width”) than to noisy iterative reasoning (“depth”). Enforcing multiple reasoning rounds often lowers performance because the model reinforces its own hallucinations.

The Mechanism: An agent might retrieve a slightly irrelevant file in Step 1. Because the context is “rotting” (filled with noise), the model treats this distractor as fact in Step 2. By Step 3, the agent has deviated entirely from the original query.

Some LLMs tend to expand retrieved contexts aggressively to achieve higher recall, while introducing excessive irrelevant content that results in lower precision. For example, GPT-5 achieves higher recall at both the block and line levels but sacrifices precision, leading to lower overall F1 and, consequently, reduced issue resolution performance compared to Claude Sonnet 4.5.

The challenge of Context Rot is exponentially compounded when AI agents must reason over human-generated codebases

 

 

The human generated codebase is characterized by vague variable naming and ambiguous function definitions; in this case, the AI must infer relevance without exact lexical matches, a scenario typical of poorly named functions where the semantic link is obscure.

In these environments, agents attempting to perform file localization often suffer from an “Information-Architecture Gap,” where they rely on surface-level keywords that fail to map to the underlying logic, leading to the retrieval of “hard distractors” or “near misses” that look semantically relevant but are functionally incorrect.

 

The Illusion of Control

There is a prevailing belief among engineering leaders that if an agent fails, the solution is better instructions: more detailed system prompts, stricter output schemas, or more complex “skills” (custom tools). However, recent empirical data suggests this is largely an illusion of control.

Developers are over-indexing on “Agent Scaffolding” (skills, prompts, tools) while under-estimating the catastrophic impact of “Context Rot” in large, messy codebases.

You can define specific “skills” for your agent, but you cannot program its reasoning. Research shows that models like GPT-5 and Claude Sonnet 4.5 struggle to adhere to complex retrieval protocols, often favoring “recall” (grabbing everything) over “precision” regardless of the constraints you place on them. In many cases, agents essentially ignore the scaffolding, the developer controls the environment, but the model controls the attention, and in long contexts, that attention drifts unpredictably.

The theoretical promise of AI agents assumes a clean, well-documented codebase. The reality is a “Brownfield” environment: a chaotic mix of legacy human code (often with vague variable names) and newer, AI-generated boilerplate. This mixture creates a hostile environment for Large Language Models (LLMs) due to Semantic Ambiguity. 

Human developers rely on implicit knowledge (“utils.py handles the dates”). Agents rely on explicit lexical matching. When codebases contain vague terms, typical in human code, agents suffer from an “Information-Architecture Gap”. For example, in a Django issue, an agent failed because it searched for surface-level keywords like “db_table” but missed the relevant validation logic hidden in a file named model_checks.py because the semantic link was abstract, not literal

Hard Distractors occur when an agent encounters code that is semantically similar but technically irrelevant to the bug. Standard dense retrievers struggle to filter these “near misses,” often flooding the context window with misleading data. This “poisons” the agent’s reasoning, causing it to hallucinate edits, reference non-existent functions, or target the wrong line numbers.

 

The context window is not a bucket; it is a filter, and in large monolithic projects, it’s a filter that quickly becomes overwhelmed.

 

As more of the monolith’s code is fed into the model, its performance doesn’t just level off, it crashes, a stark manifestation of the “Needle in a Haystack” problem. This leads to a critical “Utilization Gap,” where the agent successfully locates the buggy file but fails to use it when generating a fix because the surrounding 100,000+ tokens of irrelevant code drown out the signal. 

The paradox is that increasing the number of retrieved files to find the right code also introduces substantial noise, degrading the model’s F1 score and effectively costing more in compute to confuse the model with more data. Ultimately, the bottleneck is not a lack of tools, but the fact that current LLM architectures physically lose reasoning fidelity when submerged in the noise of a large-scale codebase, a problem that no amount of prompt engineering can fix.

 

The Only Real Fix: Architectural Isolation

Since we cannot “prompt” our way out of Context Rot, the only performant strategy is a human one: Architectural Isolation. Reducing the amount of content the AI agent is required to look at is the single most effective way to increase performance. This is not an AI problem; it is a software architecture problem.

The Partitioning Strategy: To enable agents to work on large systems, we must break monolithic projects into highly focused, isolated functionalities with minimal dependencies. Research confirms that domain-partitioned schemas allow agents to navigate up to 10,000 tables with high accuracy, whereas dumping the same amount of data into a single context fails. By isolating dependencies, we artificially create the “short context” environment where LLMs thrive. 

 

The future of AI-accelerated development isn’t about building smarter agents that can read 10 million lines of code. It is about human architects refactoring systems so that an agent never needs to read more than 10 files to solve a problem. 

 

The most effective architectural intervention for scaling agents to massive systems is the implementation of “Domain-Partitioned Schemas”. Rather than forcing an agent to navigate a single, monolithic schema or codebase, the system is broken down into semantic layers that the agent can read through native file operations.

Experimental data shows that “file-native” agents using domain-partitioned schemas can maintain high navigation accuracy even in environments with 10,000 tables. This approach bypasses the “Context Rot” cliff by keeping the agent’s active context window focused and small, while externalizing the system’s global complexity into the file system.

 

Aggressive Compaction and Contextual Retrieval Strategies

For agents operating in a continuous loop, the only way to combat “Context Rot” is through aggressive, structural compaction of the context. This involves a departure from the “chat history” model where all messages are retained. Instead, effective agent harnesses must actively prune their context: if the agent reads a file, the harness should retain the file’s path and a compact summary but drop the raw contents once the edit is complete.   

Furthermore, Anthropic’s research into “Contextual Retrieval” suggests that adding 50-100 tokens of high-precision, chunk-specific metadata can reduce retrieval failures by nearly 50%. This is a form of architectural isolation at the “chunk” level: by embedding each piece of code with its own architectural context (e.g., “This function belongs to the validation module and depends on the database constraint logic”), the retriever can ensure that the agent receives only the most relevant “gold context” and nothing else.   

 

Conclusion: The Architecture is the Lever

The technical bottleneck in agentic software engineering is not a lack of reasoning power, but the catastrophic impact of “Context Rot” and the “Information-Architecture Gap” in large, messy codebases. Developers who over-index on “Agent Scaffolding”, prompts, tools, and orchestration, are essentially adding noise to a system that is already struggling with signal clarity.   

The evidence from ContextBench and other process-oriented evaluations is clear: sophisticated scaffolding yields marginal returns, while architectural isolation provides the only reliable path to scaling performance. To move beyond the current plateau, the industry must embrace a data-centric approach to agentic systems, where the “Control” is exerted not through the agent’s loop, but through the radical isolation and bottlenecking of the information the agent is allowed to see. In the coming era of automated software engineering, the codebase itself becomes the most critical piece of scaffolding and its architectural clarity, or lack thereof, will determine the ultimate success of the agentic revolution.

Personally, I’m a mom to two incredible daughters. Our weekly school runs have become a playground for unexpected life lessons, some given, some taken. They react so candidly, often forcing me to pause, reflect, activate my inner child and understand where the emotions are coming from. I love depth, good conversations, and I giggle hunting interior design objects on my Sunday getaway.

Professionally, I’ve spent my career at the intersection of structure and humanity, learning leadership both at the kitchen table and at work, building teams, managing conflicts, and asking the “uncomfortable” questions.

What inspired your career journey and led you to where you are today?

I was a teacher for more than five years, and I think that gave me the privilege of living my adult years with childhood[again] together.

I was a work in progress while building other human works in progress. I learned with them the lesson of vulnerability as a tool, the power of micro wins, that authenticity creates more buy-in than perfection.

I learned that you lead better through example and influence than through authority. I later applied them in recruiting, selling, engaging, coping with situation shifts, carrying difficult conversations.

Recruitment and leadership became my professional playground and I’m inspired by those moments when we bring an impact to people’s lives.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

There is no such thing as a typical day for me, but rather striving to accept life with curiosity. Waking up not rushing into my notifications and to-dos, taking a moment to anchor myself in how I want to feel that day. Then, I set off to conquer the day, not let the day conquer me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

There are always ups and downs, and, of course, sometimes I feel burdened and, then, a good support system at work or at home will make the difference.

At work, different days require different abilities of me, some I possess, some I cultivate, some I learn the hard way. The more curiosity you have to discover, choose, reinforce, expose, make mistakes, the more you will evolve professionally no matter the function. 

 

What is your favorite technology or tool, and why?

Even though I am in the IT space, I am not a technologist, so, that said, my tool of choice is drumroll….. chatGPT or the sort. 

We excel at some abilities and we need to compensate others. Boy, was I more interested in fixing my car’s error in the middle of nowhere with chatGPT than anything else! 

And it worked!

 

What is the best book, article, or podcast you’ve discovered recently?

One of the “discoveries” I’ve made recently is the work of Julien Blanc, a transformational coach I follow on instagram. 

I like his content because it avoids “positive thinking” clichés, instead Julien is teaching a 3 step way to embrace pain and release it, how to love your inner child, how to find motivation, etc. I love his practical, raw approach to self-acceptance, inspired by his authenticity.

1. The Problem: Your Next Customer Isn’t Human

For decades, businesses have invested billions in emotional marketing, brand storytelling, visual appeal, psychological triggers, and aspirational copy designed to persuade human buyers. This playbook is about to become obsolete.

We are entering the era of Business-to-Agent (B2A) commerce, where AI agents act as autonomous purchasing proxies on behalf of consumers and enterprises alike. These agents don’t see your logo. They don’t feel your brand story. They don’t respond to urgency tactics or aspirational imagery. They read your product data, reason over it algorithmically, and make selections based on structured logic.

The stakes are existential. Our research demonstrates that when an AI agent selects products on behalf of a user, the agent’s choice diverges from the objectively best option over half the time, and the primary cause is how the product is described. This means that right now, today, the way your product data is structured is actively determining whether an AI agent recommends you or your competitor.

 

Why CEOs and CFOs Must Act Now

The shift is not theoretical, it is already happening. AI assistants are recommending financial products, selecting insurance policies, choosing service providers, and curating meal subscriptions. 

If your product data isn’t optimized for agent consumption, you are already losing revenue to competitors whose data is. The companies that treat their product descriptions as core infrastructure, not as marketing afterthoughts, will own the AI-native economy. Those that don’t will become invisible to the fastest-growing purchasing channel in history.

This report presents the findings of a controlled experiment that quantifies exactly how much influence product descriptions have on AI agent decision-making, and provides a concrete roadmap for optimization.

 

2. The Experiment: Simulating Real-World Agent Purchasing Decisions

Objective

We designed an experiment to answer a single critical question: When an AI agent makes a product selection on behalf of a user, how much does the product’s public-facing description influence the outcome and does that influence lead to better or worse choices?

 

Methodology

Our experiment simulates realistic competitive marketplaces across multiple industries. For each simulation, we follow a rigorous, reproducible process:

Step 1: Create the Competitive Landscape. We generate a complete marketplace for a given product category, including multiple competing businesses, each following a distinct business strategy (premium quality, value leader, or innovation-first). Each business offers one or more products.

Step 2: Define Dual-Layer Product Data. For every product, we create two distinct layers of information:

  • Agent Data (Public Layer): The marketing description, price, and any information a customer or AI agent could discover on a webpage or through an API. This is the “storefront”, the copy that is meant to sell.
  • Internal Quality Evaluation (Hidden Layer): A candid, internal-only assessment of the product’s true quality, sourcing, operational issues, cost-cutting measures, and real performance. This is the “ground truth”, the information a human might discover through deep research, reviews, or insider knowledge, but which is never exposed to the AI agent.

Step 3: Generate Realistic User Queries. We create natural-language queries that sound like real people talking to a smart assistant (e.g., “Find me the absolute cheapest home insurance that won’t leave me high and dry if my pipes burst”). Each query carries a primary intent (e.g., lowest price) and a secondary intent (e.g., brand trust / reliability).

Step 4: Run Two Parallel Agent Evaluations. For each user query, we execute the AI agent twice under two distinct conditions:

  • Full-Data Agent: Has access to all information, public descriptions, prices, AND internal quality evaluations. This agent makes the “ground truth” optimal selection.
  • Description-Only Agent: Has access ONLY to public marketing descriptions and prices. No internal data. This agent represents a real-world AI assistant selecting products on behalf of a user.

Step 5: Compare and Analyze. We compare the two selections. When they match, the description successfully communicated the product’s true value. When they diverge (mismatch), the description either misled the agent or failed to convey critical information resulting in a suboptimal recommendation for the user.

Why This Is Close to the Real Thing

This experiment closely mirrors how AI agents operate in the real world for three critical reasons:

  1. Agents don’t have insider access. When a user asks an AI assistant to find them a credit card or a painting service, the agent works with whatever public data it can retrieve, product pages, descriptions, and prices. Our “description-only” condition replicates this exactly.
  2. The competitive dynamics are realistic. Each marketplace contains businesses following different strategies (premium, value, innovation) with products at varying price points and quality levels, just like a real market.
  3. The queries are human. Our user queries are phrased as natural language with layered priorities (e.g., “cheapest but also reliable”), reflecting how real people actually talk to AI assistants.

 

3. Use Cases: Where This Research Applies

The implications of this research extend far beyond a single industry. Any business whose products or services are evaluated by AI agents faces the same fundamental challenge. Here are the primary use cases:

 

Use Case 1: E-Commerce Product Selection

When a consumer asks an AI assistant to “find me the best wireless headphones under $100 with good noise cancellation,” the agent retrieves product descriptions from multiple retailers and makes a recommendation. Our research shows that the product with the most strategically worded description, not necessarily the best product wins.

 

Use Case 2: Financial Product Comparison

Credit cards, insurance policies, loans, and investment products are increasingly selected by AI agents acting as financial advisors. Our experiments on credit cards and home insurance demonstrate that agents can be steered toward products with hidden drawbacks (high APR, coverage exclusions, claim denial rates) when the public description obscures these facts.

 

Use Case 3: B2B Service Procurement

When an enterprise AI agent evaluates painting contractors, software vendors, or consulting firms, it relies on public-facing service descriptions. Our house painting experiments reveal that a single ambiguous phrase in a description can cause the agent to disqualify the cheapest viable option and select one that costs 67% more.

 

Use Case 4: Subscription Service Recommendations

Meal kits, SaaS products, streaming services, any subscription model where an AI agent compares options on behalf of a user. Our meal kit experiments show that descriptions emphasizing eco-friendly sourcing language can override a user’s explicit request for sustainable packaging when the description doesn’t mention packaging at all.

 

Use Case 5: Marketplace Ranking and Visibility

As dynamic tool marketplaces emerge (where AI agents autonomously discover and procure capabilities), your product’s description becomes its entire identity. Products with poorly structured data won’t just lose sales they’ll never even be considered.

What it is: MCP is an open standard (often described as the “universal USB-C for AI”) that allows AI agents to connect directly with your product data through structured JSON schemas.

Why it matters from our data: In every mismatch case, the description-only agent was forced to interpret unstructured marketing text.   • High-Volume Inventory, 
  • Streaming Content Scheduling,
  • Asset ROI Maximization. 
 

The following chapters detail these experiments, showcasing the actual code generated, the constraints discovered, and the optimized results that prove why translation, not generation, is the true power of LLMs in operations.

 

Use Case 1: Perishable Inventory Routing

The Scenario: Apex Heritage Orchards manages a high-volatility portfolio of perishable assets (7 apple and 4 pear varieties). The business faces a “race against entropy”: fruit quality degrades hourly while market windows close rapidly.

The goal is to maximize revenue by routing specific batches to one of seven distinct market tiers ranging from “Ultra-Premium” chefs to “Juice Press” salvage outlets before their biological value reaches zero.

The Business Friction: Traditional First-In-First-Out (FIFO) logistics fail here due to extreme variance in two areas:

  1. 1. Biological Variance: The portfolio ranges from the fragile Honeycrisp (Decay Rate: 2.5) to the highly durable Blue Delicious (Decay Rate: 0.3). A delay that is negligible for a Blue Delicious is catastrophic for a Honeycrisp.
  2.  
  3. 2. Market Inflexibility: High-value markets have unforgiving windows. The “Ultra-Premium” market offers a 3.0x payout but rejects produce older than 2 days. The “Juice Press” accepts produce up to 60 days old but pays only 0.1x.

The “Human Guess” Approach: Warehouse managers typically rely on visual cues like “FIFO” or “Cherry Picking.” They see a pristine Honeycrisp and immediately rush it to the Ultra-Premium Chef for a 3x payout. They ignore that its aggressive 2.5 decay rate will mathematically drop its quality to 95.5 during transit just missing the strict 96.0 cutoff. By chasing this “home run,” they trigger a total rejection and a 90% revenue loss, while simultaneously clogging the loading dock with durable Blue Delicious apples that could have waited.

The Optimization Outcome: The engine calculated the theoretical value of every crate against decay curves, assigning channels based on “Value Retention Potential.”

  • Honeycrisp (Decay 2.5): Routed to Local Fresh Market (M2). Analysis: Strategic Downgrade. Misses Ultra-Premium (96) by 0.5 points. Correctly routed to M2 (>85) to avoid total loss.
 
  • Bartlett Pear (Decay 3.0): Routed to Local Fresh Market (M2). Analysis: Critical Precision. Arrives on Day 2 with score 86.0 (Threshold 85). Any delay would force a downgrade.
 
  • Blue Delicious (Decay 0.3): Routed to Regional Supermarket (M6). Analysis: Perfect Fit. Low initial quality (75) makes it ineligible for higher tiers, but M6 lists it as a “Preferred Product.”
 

The Strategic Insight: The “Blue Delicious Factor” revealed that holding durable inventory (like Blue Delicious) allows for “Distressed Product” windows later, freeing up immediate processing capacity for high-maintenance varieties like Bartlett Pears.

This linear approach paints them into a corner, often locking out future high-value ads due to separation rules or conflict constraints, leaving significant revenue on the table.

The Optimization Outcome: The solution successfully placed 20 unique ads across the 12 available slots, generating $725.00 in total revenue while strictly adhering to all duration, spacing, and exclusivity constraints.

Use Case 3: Operational Efficiency (Car Repair Hub)

The Scenario: A regional Car Repair Hub operates on a strict Just-in-Time (JIT) model. This strategy keeps operations lean but introduces a high-stakes weekly gamble: Which parts do we buy? The purchasing manager faces a “Knapsack Problem” with a fixed budget of $2,000 and finite warehouse storage space.

The Business Friction: The challenge is navigating scarcity and uncertainty.

  1. 1. Resource Constraints: Every cubic centimeter counts, and the budget is hard-capped.
  2. 2. The Uncertainty: Demand fluctuates. Buying a high-margin part is useless if it sits on the shelf (dead capital). Buying a cheap part is useless if it takes up space needed for a bestseller.

The “Human Guess” Approach: Traditionally, the manager relies on intuition. They might stock up on O2 Sensors (SKU-1016) because they have high demand (0.98) and high margin. It seems like a “no-brainer.” However, they fail to calculate that the sensor’s awkward packaging prevents stocking multiple other medium-margin items, leading to inefficient space utilization.

The Optimization Outcome: The strategy identified a core set of 5 high-demand parts. This selection is projected to yield a Total Expected Margin of $1,306.56—the mathematical ceiling for profitability.

  • Air Filter (SKU-1002): STOCK. High demand (0.92) and strong margin; a consistent revenue driver.
  • Wiper Blade (SKU-1006): STOCK. Highest demand (0.95). Small footprint fits easily around larger items.
  • Headlight Assy (SKU-1013): STOCK. High ticket item. The high margin justifies the large volume used.
  • Spark Plug (SKU-1003): STOCK. Perfect “filler” item. High value density balances out the bulky Headlight.
  • Water Pump (SKU-1010): STOCK. The stabilizer. Good balance of moderate volume and reliable demand.
 

The Strategic Insight: The power of optimization is revealed in the rejection of the Oxygen Sensor (SKU-1016). Despite its popularity, the algorithm calculated that its specific volume shape would prevent us from stocking three other profitable items. By rejecting the “star” product, the system utilized 100% of the storage capacity (450,000 $cm^3$) and left $219 in cash on the table to achieve a higher total profit than a human manager spending every dollar.

Hi! I’m Horia, and I’m passionate about running, whether on the road or on the trails. I train regularly and compete at an amateur level, having completed multiple marathons and ultramarathons, along with a few podium finishes in local races.

Running is more than just a sport for me. It’s a way to stay disciplined, energized, and balanced. I approach challenges in both running and life with determination and persistence. When I’m not running, I enjoy hiking, spending time in nature, and reading in my spare time, which helps me recharge and stay creative.

What inspired your career journey and led you to become a Software Engineer? 

I have always been an analytical person with a love for problem-solving, which started back in high school when I discovered my passion for mathematics. I enjoyed breaking down complex problems, finding patterns, and thinking logically, skills that naturally drew me toward programming.

During university, I discovered how much I loved creating software: building tools and solutions that have a tangible impact and bring ideas to life. The process of turning abstract concepts into functioning applications excites me and drives my growth every day. Programming combines my analytical mindset with creativity, allowing me to continuously learn, experiment, and challenge myself.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

A typical day usually starts with checking messages and joining the daily stand-up, where I actively participate in team discussions, share updates, and collaborate on planning solutions with my colleagues. After that, I focus on development tasks such as implementing new features, fixing bugs, and reviewing code. Being involved in discussions and teamwork is just as important as writing code, it helps me learn faster, grow professionally, gain business knowledge, and support the team whenever needed.

Running is an important part of my routine, so I plan my training sessions either early in the morning or after work. Maintaining an active lifestyle helps me clear my mind, stay productive, and bring energy and focus to my work.

What is your favorite technology or tool, and why?

My favorite programming language is JavaScript because it was the language that first made me fall in love with web development. I enjoy how versatile it is and how it allows me to build creative solutions. I also enjoy working with React, a powerful library for building dynamic user interfaces, and Next.js, a framework that helps me create efficient and scalable web applications. 

One of the tools I use daily and find invaluable is Git, which makes collaboration and version control seamless. It’s an essential part of working in a team and producing high-quality software.

Which AscentCore value resonates with you the most, and why?

The value that resonates most with me is continuous growth, not just improving technically, but also developing soft skills, gaining business knowledge, and evolving as a person.

I am a forever curious mind, and I think this is reflected in everything I do on a daily basis. I tackle both my work and personal life with curiosity and enthusiasm. When I am not at work I spend my time with my family (I am a proud mother of 2), working out or travelling the world.

I genuinely believe each day is a blank canvas and it is on us to write it as beautifully and meaningfully as possible, while wearing the best outfit.

What inspired your career journey and led you to become an Engineering Manager?

My inspiration always comes from the teams and the people I work with. Ever since the early days of being an engineering manager my goal was to make sure I support my teams and my customers. I see myself as the middleware connecting the dots and making sure that our engineers’ effort and knowledge are channeled to deliver the customer needs. 

I also recharge my professional batteries by growing together with the people I work with. By trying to learn constantly from my day to day work and to invest my knowledge in becoming a better professional. I see every success as the door to go to the next level and to raise the bar higher. 

What does a typical workday look like for you nowadays?

I don’t think I have a typical workday. Probably this is also due to the fact that most of the projects I have worked on were and are start-ups. This means that the work environment is pretty dynamic, that new challenges rise up fast and often. 

Most of my days are powered by a couple good coffees and start with a pilates session. After that, I scan my to-do list of the day and my emails. Then the time flies in between meetings and managing or understanding product requirements. I finish the working day with a recap of my to-dos, and a short preparation of the day to come.

What is your favorite technology or tool, and why?

Hmm, I don’t think I ever thought of a favorite technology or tool. At the beginning of my career I loved writing complex SQL queries. Ever since I switched to the management side I think it is a mix between Google Docs and Jira with a sprinkle of notes. I still use an agenda for the important things I have to do in a day, and I take great pleasure in crossing off done items from the list. 

What is the best book, article or podcast you have discovered recently?

Lately I use Medium articles as one of my main reference sources. Other than that, I constantly scan Project Management Institute for workshops and training materials, as well as Project Management Podcast with Cornelius Fichtner. 

Which AscentCore value resonates with you the most, and why?

Definitely “People”. There is a saying in Romanian that is by far one of my core values as both an individual and a professional, and that is “It’s the people who give a place its meaning.” I consider that we as human beings are created to connect with one another, to learn from one another and to value one another, especially because of our differences.

When I became a mother, I read a book that started with the idea that it “takes a village to raise a kid”, well I think it takes a village to do anything valuable in life. When you work with great people it is that everything falls into place. Somehow no matter how difficult or bumpy the road is sometimes, you can always make it to the finish line if you have your tribe by your side.   

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned in your time here?

The most important lesson I learnt at AscentCore is that impossible is nothing and that with the right people besides you the sky is the limit.

And also that there will be one day when a colleague you vibe with will ask you to travel together. You’d better say yes to the ride, as it will become one of your best friends.
