Showcasing Our Innovative VR Military Training Solution – Larkhill Event https://avrt.training/virtual-reality-military-training-v3-unveiling/ Sat, 27 Jan 2024 01:57:29 +0000 https://avrt.training/?p=1658

Revolutionising Military Training with the UK’s Largest Free-Roam VR Environment

23, January 2024 – The Adaptive Virtual Reality Training (AVRT) system for Military training V3 made its first UK appearance anywhere in the world at Larkhill with the British Army and supported by the UK’s Export Support Team (EST). Attendees at the demo sessions included representatives from across the UK MODOverseas Armed Forces, UK Emergency Services, Further Education and Industry.

This deployment of the brand new version of the system for simulated dismounted combat training included one of the largest free-roam VR military training environments the UK has ever seen at 400 square meters, as well as the capability for up to 12 soldiers to train together in the same virtual environment (5 soldier’s hardware was included at the Larkhill demo). Soldiers are able to move freely and naturally around the training space, using real-world weapons that are familiar to them and provide active feedback.

The AVRT system allows military instructors to create varied training scenarios using the building blocks that the system provides such as detailed 3D environments, highly configurable scenario actors and variations such as lighting, location and terrain. Digital enemies are either AI-driven or fully instructor-controllable to deliver scenarios to existing curricula or frameworks. Soldier vs soldier (PvP) within this system adds yet another element of capability.

Andy Higgs from AVRT said:

“It’s great to be here at Larkhill with representatives from all over the British Army and beyond. The AVRT Training system is an incredible tool for the trainer’s toolkit and we’ve had so much interest from the attendees. This setup has demonstrated that simulated dismounted training is a truly realistic option for our armed forces and can be easily deployed to provide scalable, de-risked, cost-effective and purposeful training for soldiers.”

The AVRT system is commercially available now and is in use by the Singapore Army having purchased the system in summer 2023.

Helping Cut the Costs of Military Training https://avrt.training/helping-cut-the-costs-of-military-training/ Sat, 16 Sep 2023 21:43:27 +0000 https://avrt.training/?p=1583

Simulation is an excellent way to train Soldiers on new weapon platforms and equipment without the costs, resources, and risks associated with traditional military training.

7 September 2023 – The British Army recently announced that it would be delivering 10,000 new L403A1 rifles over the next decade as part of Project Hunter. The use of these advanced rifles into active service demands an extensive training effort to ensure that soldiers are completely in sync with the unique characteristics and operation of this firearm.

According to Forces.net, the average cost of training a British Soldier in 2020 cost approximately £38,000. The third most substantial expenditure, totalling £8,000 per soldier, was allocated to infrastructure. This substantial sum covered various expenses such as accommodation, training facilities and ammunition. With the AVRT programme, the need for multiple military training facilities and ammunition expenses would become a thing of the past, potentially leading to significant cost savings.

Currently military training is a very resource-intensive and costly practice, requiring a mass amount of resources when adapting to new weapon platforms and sighting systems. However, our training platform is the solution to these issues.

We have already begun integrating weapons such as the M4/AR into the platform, with the ability to build any sighting system into our arsenal, catering to the needs of the user. This kind of flexibility within our programme ensures that the user is receiving the most up-to-date training experience, whilst keeping military costs to a minimum.

The AVRT VR Training platform can redefine military training, ensuring that soldiers are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for modern warfare while reducing expenses and resource strain. With its remarkable adaptability and customisation capabilities.

AVRT are delighted to show the versatility of our platform at the ILD Greenwich showcase event https://avrt.training/event-at-ild-greenwich-avrt-police-programme/ Fri, 28 Apr 2023 12:45:35 +0000 https://avrt.training/?p=1432

Showcasing the multi-functionality of the AVRT police simulation programme.

Greenwich, 28 April 2023 – We were delighted to participate in The Institute for Lifecourse Development event held in Greenwich. Our primary objective was to showcase our cutting-edge police simulation programme. While this presentation gathered significant interest, our main focus was to highlight the remarkable potential of free-roam, immersive, and interactive simulations across diverse fields, including clinical, social, psychological, and educational applications. During the event, discussions revolved around critical themes such as trust and legitimacy in policing, supporting vulnerable individuals, and enhancing clinical and social interactions.

An instance where the value of our AVRT platform from both clinical and psychological standpoints is its role in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By creating secure and controlled environments, we empower current and ex-military personnel to confront trauma-related situations in a controlled manner. This innovative approach enables real-time programming of scenarios while providing unwavering support throughout the entire process. This invaluable technique not only allows us to perceive the world through the patient’s eyes but also ensures they receive the essential support they require.

“There are a number of studies that have shown that VRET is linked to reduced symptom severity in both PTSD and depression, and that as the number of VRET sessions increases, the effectiveness of symptom reduction also increases.” – Brainline

Fantastic AVRT Law Enforcement VR Training system demonstration at Derbyshire Constabulary in December.

It was great for their instructors to use the system to deliver highly interactive training scenarios for critical encounters, including the use of less-lethal and Firearms options. The benefits in law enforcement comes from the capability to present lifelike situations to both new and experienced officers. Through the AVRT platform, instructors can dynamically control scenarios in real time, crafting situations where simulation participants must modify and flexibly adjust their tactics based on evolving circumstances. By offering a plethora of scenarios for officers to work through, this process generates invaluable experience for them. As a result, adapting to real-world situations becomes instinctive and second nature.
