Rules

Please read the following rules carefully to ensure a fair, inclusive, and productive experience for all participants. These rules are subject to change, and updates will be communicated clearly to all registered participants.

Eligibility
  • This hackathon is open to currently enrolled UC Irvine students.

  • Participants must register and check in at the designated times with a valid Student ID.

  • Teams of up to 4 members are allowed.

  • Participants must be physically present on-site for the majority of the hackathon unless otherwise approved.

  • All project work must be completed during the hackathon timeframe.

Project Requirements
  • Projects must use at least one AWS service (e.g., Lambda, Bedrock, S3, EC2).

  • All code and assets must be created during the hackathon. Open-source libraries and tools are allowed.

  • Projects should be functioning prototypes (front-end, back-end, or full-stack). Mockups and demos are permitted if core functionality is demonstrated in the submission video.

  • All submissions must be made by 5:50 PM on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Submission Requirements

On Devpost, each team must submit:

  1. Project Title & Description

  2. GitHub Repository with:

    • A working, accessible codebase

    • README.md explaining setup, tech stack, and team contributions

  3. 3–5 Minute Demo Video

    • Hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar platform

    • Must clearly show the project in action and explain your AWS usage

  4. Optional: Screenshots, diagrams, or pictures

Only one submission per team is allowed.

Judging Criteria

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Innovation & Creativity

  • Technical Difficulty

  • Impact & Usefulness

  • Effective Use of AWS Services

  • Clarity & Quality of Presentation (Video & README)

Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to follow the Hack Code of Conduct and uphold a respectful, harassment-free environment. AI@UCI reserves the right to disqualify any team or individual for violating conduct standards.

Legal & Fairness Notes
  • Projects must not include any proprietary, confidential, or sensitive data unless legally permitted.

  • Participants retain ownership of their code but agree to allow AI@UCI to use submitted project materials for promotional purposes.

  • All decisions made by the organizing team and judges are final.
